So there's an ice storm moving into Oklahoma, and around 10 or 11, it's supposed to start sleeting and get really, really bad. I'm not sure how bad this storm is in comparison to ice storms in other places, but for us wimps here in Oklahoma, it's pretty bad. Everyone is freaking out; The shelves at Wal-mart looked ransacked, the EMSA buses bought something like 20,000 pounds of salt to ice the roads with, and everybody is preparing to stay in the whole weekend since it isn't supposed to stop sleeting until Monday.
I should be at school right now. However, because my parents were worried about what the roads would look like when I was ready to leave, they kept me home. I had to call all my teachers and tell them that I wouldn't be there and see how I could make up things that I have to do, because this is the last day of the semester. And we send pdf's to the Sun tonight, and I have to lay all of that on my coeditor's shoulders because I won't be at the school and my internet will likely flake out on me once the sleet starts. So I can't even use the iDisk to fix the pages and make sure they're in top shape.
I was watching the weather a few hours ago, to see what was up and decide if I could make it to school or not, and the weather man was talking about how the rain was just beginning to drizzle down. He said, "It's just beginning, folks. And it's gonna get a lot worse." So they cut back to the other weatherman, and he said, "So there you've got it. This is the beginning of the end, if you will." My dad, who hates this icy weather, was just like "I hope he isn't right."
So if that doesn't tell you how bad and serious all of this is for us Okies, well then I don't know what to say. The most lovely part about all of this is that the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert that Boyfriend got us tickets for as my Christmas gift is tonight. And if it isn't cancelled, my parents will most likely not let me go. = /
I can hear the rain just starting to fall outside now, and I better wrap this up because my internet very well could flake out any time now. I'm hoping it'll stay up for a while, but we'll see.
Wish us luck.
