I've just posted the beginning of another story. Pathetic, I know. I really have got to actually concentrate on the ones I've got going on already, but I was looking through this photography site, JupiterImages.com, and I don't know, I just started getting inspiration, I guess you could say. I'm actually really happy with the idea for this one though, if for no other reason than because it's actually from Ponyboy's POV. I've never done a story from the POV of a main character in The Outsiders, choosing instead to mess with minor or completely original ones (i.e. Annabelle Mathews, Playing With Fire, the Evie story I've been toying with).
Of course, that also scares me to death because I'm worried about keeping everyone in character. It is set much later though, with Ponyboy at 37 years old. I've always been kind of interested in what would happen to the gang as a group after time; we know the general idea of what each individual person would be and do, but does everyone stay close or do some of them drift away? I guess I decided to explore the idea that after Sodapop dies in Vietnam, Darry and Ponyboy have a big blowout and Pony winds up moving away. He builds his own life in Chicago and 24 years later, he, along with his wife, Nancy, and two kids, Marion and Patrick, returns to Tulsa at the beginning of a summer. They are there because Nancy's sister just moved to Tulsa with her new husband and is eight months pregnant, but Ponyboy knows that he's got some things that he needs to deal with too.
Anyway, I just posted it under the title Back Home Again (I really am terrible with names, so any suggestions on a better title would also be appreciated) so any suggestions/ideas/criticisms are, as always, welcome.
