The Internet and You or "The Internet and why you shouldn't be here"
So, I am surfing the internet tubes and looking at message boards when I realize what utter crap English has transformed into. The straw that broke the snarling camels back follows:
"Hello all
can some one tell my why I never get dys on this ride. I have tryde 50 times and just to dyes, I am a ele lvl 8
plis whrite back"
and
"I am a E/mo lvl 8
I farm bandits in preh. My skills are flare, aura of resturation,bansignet, orison of healing, Glyp of lesser energy, Symbol of wrath, firestorm and res signet."
Are we so daft as a species that we just put letters in words randomly? Or leave the correct ones out entirely? And I've heard the argument so many times "This is the internet egg head. It doesn't matter if it's complete sentences". Actually it was more "STFU yu noob its dont matter none because its there internet not urs." Which then lead me to correct them and, well, one thing became another and I got a 3 day ban. Am I asking too much? I am well aware it's the internet and the whole feel of it is of a free flow nature and isn't a place for "squares" or "English Nazi's" like myself (and I've been told this many times so I'm well aware of it) but when you're talking to your friend in real life do you just spout random words? I was hoping that perhaps the internet would breed a smarter people as they would HAVE to learn to spell there, their, and they're and would learn it's a place, a person, and "they are". But, alas, I'm called a Nazi because I correct people who say "I want to go over their but there not allowing it because they say it's theyres". Reading over that myself makes my brain hurt. A hurt that's only stopped by a gentle stabbing by a long sharp object to my left arm...... oh man.... ahhhh... sweet release... pain is the cleanser... pain is the cleanser... pain is... oh, sorry.
Now, am I looking for 100% perfect? Absolutely not. God knows I've probably misspelled a word or two or 15 but I at least formed my sentences well. Maybe. I don't know, I didn't do well in English for a few years and swore I would never use it anyways. Hell, what's the chances of me going to England anyways right? tha not a plac i wunna go n e wayz.
