One minute Alex was putting away Chinese food and the next, he, Ford, and Bea had a case. As he rolled the empty cart down the hallway towards room 2117 he thought back to the night before. Several people had made comments about the majority of their first cases being infidelity and here Alex was planting a stolen MP3 device with a camera installed in Nicholas Troy's room.
One stolen key card later and he was inside, digging through his pockets for the MP3. He found it before doing a complete turn around the room.
Where to put it. He checked his watch. 5:32.
He didn't realize there were only so many possible vantage points for it. His hand came to his ear as he glanced over to the bureau between the beds. "It's coming," he said. "Just seeing where to leave it," he responded before moving over to the bed. He crouched down, trying to get the vantage point he wanted before moving over to the table and doing the same. It wasn't going well. He realized as high tech as he was he wasn't great at angles. Which what this case was turning into.
Figuring a picture could be captured from anywhere he dropped it on the table facing the beds before moving to the door. He opened it and stepped outside, spotting Troy. He slammed the door, leaning against it.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" he said, moving into the middle of the room. The handle started to move and Alex ducked down behind the bed - before he heard a ring. He looked around and popped his head up. Oh, it was Troy's. He exhaled, standing up moving around the room. His wife had called? Lucky break, he figured. He listened, panicking, bringing his hand to his ear, whispering, "I'm working on it!"
The last place he ever thought he would end up was out on the ledge...which was exactly where he ended up.
Hoping Nicholas wouldn't decide he needed fresh air he stood, waiting.
He couldn't help but wonder how Bea and Ford had made out. He heard the knock of the door - LuLu was arriving and the MP3 was set.
Mission accomplished -- from out on the ledge.
