It was the day before New Years Eve and Jay was nervously standing outside Danny's apartment. She hadn't spoken to him since she had her fight with her mother, and she felt really bad about it. But she had needed time to think. She still had no answer. And it was nothing about increasing feelings like Lucy had suggested...she just...liked Danny. She didn't want to give him up and she didn't want her mom mad at her. So she had no answer, but she wanted to see him.
Which brought her to standing outside his apartment that afternoon. She wasn't even sure if he was home. So she lingered. Trying to make up her mind.
Danny was inside, getting ready to head out and see Flack. He grabbed his keys off the table by his door, when he pulled it open and spotted Jay behind it, looking nervous. He stopped, blinking at her for a moment, before leaning against the door slightly. "Hey."
Hands shoved in her back pockets, she rocked on her feet a bit, chewing her lip. "Hey," she replied.
He shifted slightly, before stepping to the side to let her in. "You wanna come in?"
"If...you're on your way out, I don't wanna hold you up. I shoulda called first." She ducked her head, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear, and turned to go.
"Nah, it's just Flack," Danny said moving forward to catch her arm lightly. "He's used to waiting for me."
She nodded and stopped to look up at him. "If you're sure."
"Positive," he said with a nod.
"Okay." She nodded back and followed him back up to the apartment.
He let her inside ahead of him, before closing the door behind him, looking over at her. "So -- what's up?"
"I'm sorry I haven't been in touch. Things have just been...kinda crazy," she shrugged.
"Nah, nah -- it's alright," he said with a slow nod. "You needed your space."
She nodded, crossing her arms over her chest. "I missed you, though."
"I missed you too," he said, giving her a small smile.
She stepped forward slowly and moved a hand to his chest, a smile coming to her lips. "Yea?"
"Yeah," he nodded. "It was weird not havin' you around."
Her head rested to his shoulder. "I know what you mean."
He slid his arms around her waist and pulled her closer, rubbing her back quietly for a moment.
She sighed and chewed her lip again. "I want to tell you something."
He pulled back a little and looked at her, letting his hands slide to her waist. "Okay. What's up?"
"Not here." She took his hand and pulled him over to the couch, sitting down with her legs curled under her. She let go of his hand and twisted her own together, trying to find the right place to start. "It's...really not you my mom has a problem with. There's...a whole lot more to it."
He sat down next to her, sliding his hand against the back of the couch. "Which I'm guessing is what you want to talk to me about?"
"Yea..." she exhaled slowly, keeping her eyes down from him. "I...er, well...my Dad. He died. Long time ago. I was eight." She took a moment to gather her thoughts.
"Oh," he nodded slowly. "I'm sorry to hear that."
"Couple months ago...that night...I was having a bad night and asked you to take me out? It...I'd been to a trial that day. The man that mur-murdered my Dad...he was trying to get out on parole." Her hands tightened together and she hunched over a bit more. "He was a cop. In the papers a bit over the years...Gavin Cooper."
Danny sighed softly and ran a hand over his face. "Yeah, I remember that. Flack said his dad used to talk about him all the time."
"I grew up with Ma tellin' me...you can't trust a cop. You can't trust a cop.."
"Which is why she had that kind of reaction when you told her you were dating one," Danny nodded slowly. "I get it."
"Also...why I mighta given you...and Flack...a hard time at first. But..." she finally made herself look up at him. "I know you. I know I can trust you."
"But if your mom doesn't -- " he paused for a moment. "I don't want to cause a problem with your family, Jay. She's all you got."
Her face broke slightly as she looked down again. She nodded. "Yea..no...this...this isn't really anything anyway, is it," she said. It might not have been how he meant it, but she felt like he was okay with her not sticking around.
"Not what I meant," he said with a sigh. "I want you. I do. But are you really gonna be happy with me if your mom isn't?" He paused for a minute, cupping her face in his hands lightly. "I want you to be happy with me too. Totally and completely. I don't want to get you half way."
She met his eyes. "I want...I want both. I want my mom to be okay with it, cause she did like you. I know she did."
"So tell me what you want me to do," he said with a nod. "Whatever you want, Jay."
"Just...stick around?" She felt weird asking that. It wasn't her thing to ask like that, but it was what she wanted. "And for now..." her hand moved up to cover his on her face and she pulled it down against her hip. "...be with me?"
"I can do that," he said with a nod, moving in closer to her and sliding his arms around her.
Her arms went around his neck tightly as she leaned back into the couch. She'd been missing that spot so much. Not the couch, but being near him.
He pulled her in closer, kissing the top of her head lightly. "We'll figure it out, alright?"
"I hope so," she nodded.
"Good," he said with a sigh.
She nodded and touched his cheek to bring him in for a soft kiss. Something else she had really missed.
He kissed her back, brushing his hand against her face softly as he moved in closer.
She started leaning back more on the couch, pulling him with. "Luce seems to think I'm fallin' for you or somethin'," she murmured.
"Yeah?" he grinned, following her lead and forgetting about Flack completely.
"Yea," she grinned back, her fingers sliding to the skin above the waistband of his jeans. "But I told her it's just the amazing sex."
"Well, it is pretty amazing sex," he smirked.
"Of course it is," she smirked back. Her legs moved up to wrap around the back of his. "It is with me."
"Very true," he murmured, moving his lips down to her neck and starting to make his way lower.
Her eyes fluttered closed and she gasped slightly, at a loss for smart ass comments.
He moved his body in closer, pressing himself up against her and moving in closer.
Her fingertips slid into the waist of his jeans and she bit down on her lip hard. She might have also begged his name softly.
He started to help her shed clothes, finishing with kicking his jeans to the floor before moving in closer to her again.
She held his neck and pulled him back up for another kiss, wrapping her other arm around his back
He kissed her back, deepening the kiss as he got closer and sliding his hands over her body.
Jay's body moved with his hands and she cried out a little louder, her fingers gripping his back tightly.
He moved in closer to her, pressing in as close as he could as his hands slid down her back.
She kept him close as long as she could, before her body gave out and relaxed back against the couch. Eyes closed, she tried to catch her breath, her fingers still tracing his back.
He curled up closer to her, wrapping his arms around her and relaxing against the couch.
"Don't you hafta go see Flack?"
He grumbled slightly under his breath. "I'll call him. Gimme a phone."
She smirked. "Got one right here in my pocket," she joked. She leaned a hand off the couch and fumbled around, grabbing for the first cell phone she could find, then handed it over.
He took the phone from her, before plugging in Flack's number and canceling on him, before hanging up again. "Boom. Done."
"Mmm, least now I'll know what it sounds like when you cancel on me for a naked woman," she teased.
He laughed. "I'd rather you be the naked woman."
"I'll be naked for you as long as you want," she grinned, pulling him back down to lay closer.
"Good," he grinned, leaning in to kiss her again.
She kissed him back with a slight sigh. "I say we just hide away from reality for the rest of the day."
"That sounds very good to me," he nodded.
"I think it's gonna require a nap and more sex. Maybe a hot shower," she grinned.
"I like the sound of that," he said with a grin. "Which would you like to do first?"
"Nap," she nodded. Truth was she hadn't been sleeping well in the past week or so, but she was finally feeling like she could.
"Want to do it here, or actually move to a bed?"
"Mmmmm...here's fine."
"'Kay," he sighed, reaching for the blanket and pulling it over them.
She curled up close and tucked herself against him. "Thank you, Danny," she whispered, not really caring if he heard her or not.
He kissed her neck lightly as he pulled her closer and closed his eyes.
