So I went in to the doctor today to get an ultra sound to see how my second course of Clomid was working. Since the doctor told me that most women with my condition don't see results till they are on roughly double my current dose, I wasn't really expecting anything today. It was just a hoop I had to jump through so that I could get my higher dose next month.
Usually one of the nurse practitioners does my ultra sounds and they tend to be pretty uncomfortable but quick. Today my actual doctor did it. It took twice as long, but he was very gentle. For some reason that gave me the
Imagine my surprise when he said "I don't know which ovary this is, but write down these numbers".
Me: Numbers? I've never had numbers before. Is that good?
Him: Yep. Numbers mean something is happening. Did you know one of your ovaries is actually behind and below your uterus?
Me: Yeah. It's my left one. Huh. I really didn't come in this morning expecting good news.
Him: Well it's mixed news. Good news is you have two follicles on your right ovary. Bad news is one of them is very large, and can mean problems. Also you have nothing going on on your right one. That's odd too. I want to do a bunch of (expensive as all hell) blood work, and have you come in for an ultra sound this Saturday.
Me: Umm...aren't Saturdays held for the emergency type appointments?
Him: Yeah. Don't worry though. If it's too big we'll give you a hormone shot to trigger it.
Me: Oh...good?
So there you go. I'm just looking at the bright side which is that the drugs did something. I'm hoping that means I don't have to up the dose next month. With any luck one of those follicles will ripen all on it's own without any funky shots, and I'll be that much closer to being knocked up. Ahhhhh...the romance of it all!
