I hate expressions and figures of speech that don't quite make sense but people make no attempt at adjusting them. Last night I was asked if I was afraid of heights. I paused for a while, so the person rephrased "I mean... are you afraid of falling?" "Oh no!" I replied immediately, "I love falling!" The person laughed as if I was being sarcastic. "I'm serious!... Falling is one of my favorite feelings. What's to be afraid of? It's not the heights, the jumping, or the falling that you need to be afraid of... it's only the landing you need to be concerned about. So, do you mean 'Am I afraid of landing?' I'm not sure..."

You can't fall without landing at the end. Would I give up the feeling of falling just because I'm scared of the landing? ...Would you?
