The times they are a-changing

It's always bad news when there is a message on your answerphone from your Landlord saying he wants to chat. The good news is we're not being evicted, the bad news is we probably will be within the next 12 months. Basically he's selling the house, or rather putting it on the market. He's hoping to sell it to another landlord who'll keep us on....but in my experience they tend to decide that they're not getting enough money in rent from you so they kick you out, refurbish the place, then hike up the price by £100+. Knowing our luck the guys who buy the house will be the student housing firm who is buying up everything around here - the same ones who kicked us out to refurbish the place in our last house!
We figure the only way around this is to either buy the house ourselves, or go elsewhere. Buying it is right out if he insists on anything above £70k, and last time we spoke it was between £75-£80k. All we can hope is that no one touches the property considering the last house down our street only went for £60k. Fingers crossed everyone! Anyway, if we do end up moving it looks like it will be Billingham as we'll have to pay more rent and therefore need to eliminate my monthly bus fare from the equation :S
God this sucks. All I can think is 'quit moaning, you don't live in Bosnia, Sarajevo, or Iraq'.

Wish us luck in buying!
