So, I was watching the History Channel with my mother earlier, and they were showing mini-biographies on all the Presidents. We got to Andrew Jackson and the Trail of Tears, and my mom looks me straight in the face and says, "Wow, Andrew Jackson was a fag." I thought I was going to choke from laughing so hard. Jesus Christ Superstar. I will be the first female Judas...in my next life, when I can sing.
Jekyll and Hyde. Yes, it's David Hasslehoff...but it's a grreat musical. I will also be Lucy. In my next life. When I can sing.
RENT. It's a movie now, so there's no excuse. It's different from the stage show, but, I believe, sound in its own merits.
Chicago transferred pretty well to the screen. It's over-the-top, but lotsa fun.
I haven't seen the film version of Phantom. I've heard the very good and the very bad of it.
If there was a movie version of the Scarlet Pimpernel, I'd order you to see it...but I don't think there is. Same with the musical version of Les Misérables - though the non-musical film version is pretty darn good.
And...I liked A Chorus Line. You might not. It's not terribly deep...just kinda dirty and funny and realisticish.
And that's probably more than you were looking for.
Oh! And Hewig and the Angry Inch. Mustn't forget. Any musical with a song based on Plato makes me happy. And in a similar vein, Rocky Horror. Though that should really be seen live for the full effect.
Anywho. I promise I'm done now. Have fun, and let me know what you think!
