Serum #004 [Accidental Video]

[It's no real surprise that someone like Johannes is in one of the abandoned buildings, is it?  This time, the network isn't being treated to whatever he was up to, but we do get the interesting visual of Johannes stabbing the tip of his sword cane into a small pile of sheets on the ground with a sneer.]

The last time I offer a ghost the chance to ( Read more... )

[Okay, really. As a shinigami, he simply can't ignore this.]

What exactly were you expecting?

[Aw, Hitsu, he did it for an old soldier ghostie! ... and a theatre poltergiest.]

I was expecting for it not to turn into a pile of bedsheets.

Like the bats? [Hinthint.]

And what bats would those be?

[Oh, he doesn't care about what's happening to other people, Hitsu, you're all so incredibly stupid anyway.]

[Doesn't that make him rather stupid? If he'd been paying attention, he wouldn't be in this awkward situation.]

The rubber bats that have been frightening people who don't bother to take a closer look.

[What's awkward? Johannes isn't feeling awkward. YOU'RE THE ONE WHO DECIDED TO TALK TO HIM, HITSU.]

Why on earth would anyone even be afraid of bats at all? Rubber or otherwise?

[Okay then. He wouldn't have had to waste his time, and he wouldn't have had to deal with Hitsugaya talking to him. So there.]

Maybe it stems from the same line of reasoning that leads people to offer a ghost a chance to move on in a place that has neither ghosts nor allows anyone to cross over.

I can see that now, yes. Oddly enough, however, no one thought to hand me an instruction manual for this universe. [Was that a little bite from Johannes, yes, it just might have been.]

You weren't informed?

[Not by Elric or Hino or any of those people who so seem to enjoy talking to new arrivals that are suspicious at best and downright insane at worst?]

[Hino might have started to try. Her failing to finish might or might not have been Johannes' fault.]

I wasn't planning on remaining here too terribly long.

[Don't tell him that. He doesn't like people not listening to him. If people weren't listening to Hino, he'd have something to say. Which no doubt Johannes doesn't want to hear.]

You shouldn't be planning on anything.

So I suppose you suggest that I simply sit on my hands and sing a song, is that it?

No. I'm saying you need not one but several plans.

Of course. Being equipped with only one plan is tantamount to going to a duel with a gun, but no bullets.

You might luck out and simply be able to beat someone over the head with it without getting shot, but the statistics are not in your favor and you are far more likely to bloody your coat.

In which case not planning on something leaves you in that very position.

Precisely.

[And now he's just going to smile at you, Hitsu. Very. Unnervingly. He has a soul now, I swear. He just... wishes he didn't some most days.]
