The Globe gig - 31st July

Aug 01, 2010 16:35

Firstly a quick note on the venue, The Globe was as hot and stuffy as I remembered although they've now got some giant fans which are very cooling if you stand near them - it just doesn't make a lot of difference for the rest of the room.

Before announcing the first act GDL said that they were recording the gig so some of the songs could make an appearance as B-sides etc :)
First of the support acts was SoulScience, great way to warm up the audience and most of Blue Gillespie were standing in front of the stage to enjoy it (Clarky was standing by the bar to enjoy it ;) ), easy to as there was a lot of space by the stage at this point.

Second support act was Spiridion (if you're on Twitter look up @SpiridionBand for such gems as "The globe, Cardiff, this sat 31st July, be there, or phil will eat your cat!"). Only one thing to say about Spiridion, awesome!

Finally BG :)
A bit more of a crowd near the stage for Blue Gillespie but you could still stand close and have plenty of room to move around in - as Clarky's girlfriend proved by dancing virtually the full width of the stage :)
GDL fell over at one point from over-moshing. Sorry he *didn't* fall over - it was intentional...
Due to the heat I took a little breather from dancing when we got to Paradox and actually took a couple of photo :O
The encore was a shortened version of The Oblivious, a slightly unusual performance as the audience were providing the percussion (Nick was unavailable)

GDL ended the night with a shout out for Sex Wales & Anarchy on 4th Sept.

Here are the photos, there aren't many of them as I didn't stay still for long;
