On orgasm, both mechanical and transcendent.

I've had half a week of considering orgasm.

It all started with this link, posted to the Third Row email gestalt, I think, from memory

Now, the interesting thing about that link is not the content, per se. I forwarded it to a male friend who is thoughtful, cogent and analytical, and his first reaction in sms was this:

I'm tempted to say something like life's too short to stuff an orgasm.. it would be interesting to do a study asking transsexuals about their orgasms tho..

An orgasm is an orgasm. Like everything else in life, it's fun to play with.

Sure thing - it was just a weird thought that made me laugh (I'm v tired); and um, second thought was just the fairly obvious thing I thought that if there is any psychological as opposed to purely physical reasons for commonly observed diff between female and male orgasms (you said you were gonna read the science) , this might be one way to get data on it.. and then I started to think about pre and post op and thought that'd be REALLY intersting..! I suspect myself I have a much more "male" orgasm than most women - pretty short and sharp but I've never had trouble having one in my life. swings and roundabouts! :-) I'm not sure I've ver had anything "transcendent"/..

I don't think "male" orgasms are that easily classifyable as short and sharp, are they?

My male friend said that he'd heard that wtih written descriptions of orgasm, most people couldn't tell whether they were written by a male or female. So I'm dubious that there's any real difference, myself. Hence chasing the science, though.

Well common myth as we started off with, suggests commonly observed differences. And er I'm not a man and don't do too much empirical research right now..:=) Maybe u should do a poll!
