I told myself I'd only comment when I finished the series, but that line needs praising in the way that the sun needs to rise and set in a mathematically predictable pattern. It is entirely and precisely perfect and it breaks my heart.
I wish I could take full credit for that line, but it's Rorschach paraphrasing Zizek paraphrasing Brecht. Nonetheless, it's the best summary of Rorschach's life mission that I've ever come across, so it had to go in there.
He wants his old friends back, as they should have stayed, careworn and cynical but still good, their intentions pure even if they themselves could never be.
