Now Rorschach turns, so terrifyingly exposed that Dan wants to look away. “To be last piece of dirt,” he says. “After removal, room clean.”

Oh, oh. Oh Rorschach.

I told myself I'd only comment when I finished the series, but that line needs praising in the way that the sun needs to rise and set in a mathematically predictable pattern. It is entirely and precisely perfect and it breaks my heart.

I wish I could take full credit for that line, but it's Rorschach paraphrasing Zizek paraphrasing Brecht. Nonetheless, it's the best summary of Rorschach's life mission that I've ever come across, so it had to go in there.

It matters less where you got it, I think, and more that the sentiment and the delivery both fit him so exquisitely well.

Very good stuff - excellent. :) Writing these without making Rorschach into a soppy bastard is a great accomplishment.

Thanks. Yeah, I get the feeling he's going to be soppified a lot in the months to come.

He wants his old friends back, as they should have stayed, careworn and cynical but still good, their intentions pure even if they themselves could never be.

I love this line. So true, so real.

struggling and gasping like he doesn’t know the difference between fighting and fucking

guh.

AND THEN THAT LAST BIT. You sure know how to end with a bang. I literally rose from my seat and screamed "OH HELL YEAH" at the screen.

So yeah. Thanks for that.
