In which I dicuss Joshua Fruhlinger.
Hello... friends. I do hope that you have all... been faring well.
I have... for much of my life... been an avid reader of the comic strips... in the daily newspaper. However, it is my... considered opinion that the comic strips... have taken a dramatic turn for the worse... in the last five years or so. I find myself feeling... dissatisfied... and hungry for entertainment. I have even on occasion... reduced myself to reading such... shallow, overly moral tripe... as the deplorable Family Circus. Garfield is no longer... a jolly romp through the world... of an obese cat... and his socially inept owner... but instead a series of photo-copied illustrations... and contrived "punch-lines". I despair.
My friends, I have made a most... pleasing discovery. In a moment of inarticulate frustration... after having completed my viewing... of todays comic strip page... I entered the words "Why do I have to read the comics?"... into a Google search. The first result displayed... was a web-site entitled "The Comics Curmudgeon". Intrigued, I clicked on the link. The site before my eyes (... no pun intended) caused me to laugh... so heartily... and loudly... that Julius seemed convinced that I was... in the midst of an epileptic fit.
"The Comics Curmudgeon", penned by a young gentleman... by the name of Joshua Fruhlinger... offers most amusing commentary... on current comic strips... from soap-opera strips such as Apartment 3-G and Rex Morgan, M.D.... to the greatly loathed 'classics' such as Cathy and Dennis the Menace. My friends... I cannot possibly express to you... the hilarity this web-site has brought... to my life. After nearly forty-seven minutes... of perusing said web-site... I returned to my previously forsaken comic-strip page... and found a well of amusement... never before tapped. I suggest... that you visit "The Comics Curmudgeon"... and experience its glory... for yourselves.
Mr. Joshua Fruhlinger, you have made... what has been a daily ritual of mine... for many decades... enjoyable once more. I give you... my heartfelt thanks.
