Man, it's been like, forever...
Anyway...
I have a real problem with the NCAA, (as does everyone else I know), but watching Outside the Lines tonight, I really went nuts.
They were talking about how the NCAA is banning all NCAA post-season play in South Carolina, because they fly a confederate flag as a symbol of their state. They interviewed a bunch of people, and they said, they agreed, and they were going to back the NCAA in everything they do to take that flag down so that teams may have home-field advantage in the play-offs.
Now don't get me wrong, I don't agree with promoting what the flag used to stand for, but I think if it's a part of their history, then they should be allowed to fly it, but the fact that the NCAA has spent so much time and effort in this issue is just absolutely idiotic.
Why don't they spend this much time working on the graduation rate of student-athletes, or helping shape certain sports to the way they need to be, *cough* BCS *cough*. There are so many more problems that the NCAA could address other than some stupid flag that hangs in a state, and because of it, kids in that state who have nothing to do with it have to suffer. It's killing the business of the cities who would host these post-season events also for no reason.
I don't see how this could be that big of a problem, when 99% of the people who watch a game in South Carolina, aren't going to see or think anything about it. It's getting more press, and being out there more now than it would have been before. People need to back off stupid issues like this, and focus more on serious problems within the NCAA.
What are your thoughts?
