2007 ruled.
2008 is going to rule.
I have no lofty ruminations on the state of things for you, no photographs of last year to burn or cherish, no map of next year planned out and annotated. All I have is a feeling, a feeling that I'm on the edge of something brilliant, and the sun is going to rise this year and everything will bloom into the overdue beauty that has been swelling underneath the streets since I was born.
I'm too lazy to make an actual list of "Best Albums of 2007" (I never had the patience it takes to make those year-end lists, anyway), but some discs I highly recommend are as follows:
Of Montreal - "Icons, Abstract Thee", The Arcade Fire - "Neon Bible", Every Time I Die - "The Big Dirty", Weatherbox - "American Art", Say Anything - "In Defense of The Genre", Justice - "Cross", The Weakerthans - "Reunion Tour", Kanye West - "Graduation", The Good Life - "Help Wanted Nights", Bloc Party - "A Weekend In the City", Animal Collective - "Strawberry Jam", Panda Bear - "Person Pitch", Feist - "The Reminder", The Shins - "Wincing The Night Away"
