The ironic thing is that I always felt safer on the highways there, since they have so many more lanes and generally have more breathing room between cars even during heavy traffic. Here, some of the highways are still just two lanes, most of them being three lanes... So they get extremely congested, even during lower traffic times... So it's extremely easy for accidents to happen and there are often 20 car pile ups, as they cause them... The many wide lanes out there always made me feel so much safer when I was being driven all over the place on Access rides...

As time goes on, I think you'll find that you'll be less shaken about this, but some things like the sound of screeching tires might bring you back... That sort of thing still triggers me. I hope that doesn't happen to you though... If you're having a lot of nightmares and not sleeping well, you might want to see your doctor for a benzo... Supposedly if you take valium or ativan or something to help you sleep after a traumatic incident the trauma doesn't set in as deeply or something... It doesn't give you amnesia, but kind of stops the brain from filing away the memories in as many places, and as deeply, so to speek, supposedly... Just a thought.
