Hi! So i've decided I'm gonna try and update this thing again in order to keep in some sort of contact with the outside world. my life is pretty repetitive and uninteresting though (work, eat, sleep, repeat) so bear with me, i'll try to add some funny anecdotes and/or deep, meaningful insight along the way. Anyway, here's my life as of late:
-WORK
Work has been pretty sweet lately what with all the kids gone for winter break and everything. We've been operating from 7-2 instead of our usual 7-8 so thats pretty cool, although there has been a lot of random catering this week which is annoying, especially because my catering steward (the guy who sets up, delivers, and cleans up the events) is on seasonal layoff and so i have had to do all of the work myself. all i can say is, i'll never yell at that guy again.
I went to two training sessions this week. The first one was at the GSU so that was cool cuz its so close to my house that i could walk there. also, i saw some familiar faces of the past such as: eric, bridget, mike gilligan (who taught the class), josh hubbard, and a bunch of other people i knew from working for BU over the summers, plus i met some of the new managers at myles who gave me all the dirt on the goingson over there. The other one I went to today was ServSafe. It's a mandatory food safety training for all managers and cooks. I am now officially a germophobe after learning about all the different foodbourne illnesses, how they are spread and what the symptoms are. It's all pretty gross and horrifying. I had to take a test at the end of the class to prove I am proficient in food safety so people don't die when i am running the dining hall. lets all i hope i passed ;)
-HOME
All is good at the homefront. We got a puppy. He is adorable, yet a major pain in my ass. He absolutely refuses to be housebroken. He knows he has to go outside, he just doesnt care. His other interests are rummaging through the garbage, chewing on everything in sight, and chasing the cat around the house. Yep, he's a puppy alright. I also got an espresso maker and an ice cream maker and every poster from every pearl jam show i've ever been to. so i'd say my life is pretty much complete. ;)
Random story of the day:
I was stopped at a toll booth on the masspike last month, ever-so-patiently waiting my turn, when the giant uhaul truck in front of me starts backing up. So i start frantically honking my horn, and it stops. Then it starts backing up again and at this point i am just holding my hand down on the horn. There is someone behind me so I can't back up. The tollbooth operator is just standing there, with a dumbfounded look on her face. Then, smash! crunch! the giant uhaul truck has backed into my car. i am unharmed, but furious. i jump out of the car screaming insults and obscenities far beyond the imagination. the driver and his passenger get out of the truck. after a short time, i realize these men do not speak english and could quite conceivably be russian terrorists or mobsters. at this point, some masspike authority worker guy comes over and tells us to move to the side of the road so other cars can get through the toll. as i drive through the toll, the dumbfounded operator puts her hand out waiting for me to pay the toll. i gave her a dirty look and kept driving. if anything, SHE should be paying ME since she could have preventing this incident from occurring if she had just opened her dumb mouth and told the fucking idiot in the giant truck that you ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BACK UP AT A TOLL BOOTH. so anyway, we both pull over to the side of the road, and the guy who kind of spoke english said, "we give for you one hundred dollars?" and i, realizing there was no serious damage and that my car is probably not even worth a hundred dollars and also that these guys probably could have just shot me and left me in a ditch and went on their merry way, said "fine." and then the other guy, the driver said, "no problem?" and i said, "no, no problem." and so, he took out his wallet and pulled out a crisp, clean one hundred dollar bill and handed it to me. then they both got back into the uhaul and i drove away. and thats my random story of the day.
end transmission.
