I swear I hear this everyday: "You have to learn the drum language." Well, I can't learn the drum language when I don't get enough chances to hear the drums! Gah!!
Other than that, I'm do great. Just found out I have from the 20th of November to the 11 of December absolutely free. No exams.... zip zilch nada. This means I have a LOT of time to go travelling. My exam schedule just magically worked out very nicely. I'm very pleased. I'm leaving for Togo and Benin exactly a week from today and I'm super excited! I've been talking about this for a while too, haha.
British Airways is still giving me a hard time about finding a way to take my drums home. I'm still fretting about it. Anyone know anything I don't? I don't want to have to ship them home cuz it's expensive, but I might end up shipping at least the big one home (the small one I can definitely bring as just my carry-on if nothing else).
Ghana's no paradise, but it just hit me yesterday how much I'm going to miss it. I was standing outside the dance studio after class with some friends (who are absolutely amazing dancers), just talking to them in the poorly lit courtyard with the stars shining and drummers in the background. Some of these memories will be embedded in me forever. True there are some I'd love to forget as well, but for the most part, this has been quite wonderful. I always start to realize how good a place is at the very beginning, and then again right before I leave. Haha.... but it's natural.
ghana,
