The last 3 weeks, and a looking ahead a few
Well, as you may have noticed, it was Christmas! I got some stuff, nothing life changing. some books about game design, 'Up', a Don Hertzfeld DVD, and a netflix account which I hooked up to my xbox and... actually that has been pretty life changing: I can watch anything now, instantly. Its like a vulgar show of digital excess and I'm some hedonistic slug creature, starting and stopping movies just because I can. Its pretty great though, not gonna lie. Got to see the family in philly. Played rockband with the cousins which was a LOT of fun. Though, Im worried about connie and yiayia, theyre both slowing down a lot.
While I was in MD, I hung out with Geoff and Brett. Geoff is having trouble with joy and connor, but I think hes taking a positive step right now. he's a pretty strong dude. not physically (srsly, what a pussy) but in character. Brett is good mostly. I had a great time with them, but I couldnt shake the feeling that we were playing videogames in the same place, on the same screen in highschool. They've just added booze and cheap cigars.
I also hung out with Emily's friends, which as it turns out was pretty choice. we went to the quarry house and chilled and joked and drank. Though I spent like 60$ it was still fun. we also hung out with them on NYE. those evenings were probably the highlight of the trip.
Saw my dad too, at his new place in hyattsville. Pretty great location, cute little cottage and hes really made it sparkle with his rennovations. It was nice that I got to hang out with both mom and dad. I was a little worried that it would be tougher.
The one person I didnt see, whom I was really looking forward to seeing was Christine. We were supposed to hang out and go on a 'date night' but she kept asking for rainchecks and eventually it just never happened. I miss her a lot. Im remembering how hot she is too. Especially this last week my phone has been broken so I cant even talk to her. I would have liked to get some coffee or something at least. The shady nature of these revisions to our schedule are not lost on me however, though I cant say I blame whoever was the driving force behind them. C'est la vie.
When I got back to g'vegas we interviewed one of the senior designers for The sabetour to be our lead designer (so he would be my direct supervisor). he seemed like a cool guy, got my vote. also, I was selected to talk with one of the higher ups at igntion corporate 'one-on-one' cause he wants to talk to a 'cross section' of the studio. its kinda weirding me out, but it could be fun. I guess Im just worried I might say something that gets someone else in trouble. Also, apparently in Feburary we are gonig to crunch like all month. the pre-christmas crunch wasnt so bad really, but I feel like this is going to be hellish since we have a huge deadline in early march.
There was a cool party at my place last night! we had a drag queen show up!
my new years resoloutions include:
- develop nearly perfect courtesy and manners, but do not loose the common tuch.
- develop and stick with an excercise regimine.
- do more follow up in my social life (dont say I'll do something and then just forget about it, no matter how minor or in passing I said it.)
- grow a legendary mustache.
- most importatnly: do all of these things for me. To make ME a better person. not for anyone else. I am the one who wants me to be better than I am, and by god I will be.
girls? umm well... Thery're at arms length right now I think. Either Im pretty sure they arent interested, or Im only kind of interested. in short: Im at a good holding pattern right now. it feels liberating.
