so what has happened?

So I figured I would keep people up to date as a lot has happened and I dont want to get too far ahead of myself, lest I forever forget something worth remembering.

first and idea: Im reading 1984 for the first time and man is it awesome. I really like the relationship between julia and winston the best. that's how love ought to be? random dystopia is pretty cool too, but the love story is the part I like. anyway, someone ought to make a 1984 mod for half life 2. if youve played and read those two things it seems only natural. someone tried it but stopped. plus they were going to turn it into an all out action shooter, which defeats the point of the book (as far as I know...Im only halfway through.) I would make it just a basic retelling of the story with some gameplay elements. maybe teamwork puzzles with julia, ect. nothing fancy just a strict videogame adaptation. hell, Id equeally love to see a machinima of 1984 with the halflife engine. either would be killer.

second, two bad luck love stories:
I got stood up twice in one night by kari(unexpected! I kissed dat ho.) and mariana(totally expected). you'd think girls would be more excited about free harry potter tickets, oh well. I want to remember this episode when Im 80.

also, a guy from work who I talked about before, who is new to gainesville and SEEMED like a cool guy came to some parties I invited him to. There I introduced him to a girl I had been trying to run down for a while (just out of common curtesy), and he promptly started dating her. I dont hate him or anything, he was totally meek and apologetic about it and he needed her more than I did since I was the only person he knew in gville socially up till that point, but I wont be inviting either of them out to any more things...

third, work and moving: I started work at Pollo Tropical. It sucks. its basically 4-5 hours of standing up and constructing various dishes out of chopped chicken and rice. The food is ok, but its at least as bad for you as McDonalds. It leaves me greasy and tired after work, and then I have to go to Ignition for another 4-5 hours.

The same week I started at PT I had to move out of my current house and into a storage unit, since I cant move into my new place until the 7th (staying with gabe for the week). one of my roommates has a DUI so he cant drive until November, another is a scared asian kid who cant drive a UHAUL and the other was busy, so basically it was a horrible and tedious balancing act getting everything out:

"thomas cant drive and he didnt pay for the storage unit so he'll rent the UHAUL and matt will drive it, since philip wont drive big cars. but matt has 2 jobs now so he can only drive it in the early morning and in the hour between his jobs. the storage unit closes at 7pm, which is before matt gets off from ignition, so we have to get up at 7am, make a run with ONLY the big heavy furniture, then another at 2pm when he gets off work from PT, and inbetween thomas and phil will take the smaller boxes in phils car. ect... ect..."

It finally got done though, and in a week... I get to do it agian. -_-

anyway, I did get the job at the elementary school too, but that doesnt start until August 24th and is dependent upon finger prints, training and a drug test WHICH IS HARDER TO PASS THAN YOU MIGHT IMAGINE! they say that when you get pulled over for drunk driving and a cop gives you a roadside sobriety test, he isnt watching to see if you complete the tasks (walk a straight line, touch your finger to your nose) hes watching to see if you follow the explicit directions he gives (take 13 steps forward on this line, touch your ring finger to your nose).
Its the same kind of deal with a serious drug test.
  • you may not fail more than twice.
  • you may not bring anything with you into the bathroom.
  • if you flush the toilet, it is considered a failure no matter how permanently this is ingrained into your muscle memory (matt failure count:1)
  • you may not leave before the test is complete, or it is a failure.
  • you must produce at least 60ml of urine, so that an unexplained but EXTREMLEY IMPORTANT tempature activated strip on the cup changes color. or it is a failure (matt failure count:2)
  • you must complete the test on the assigned day or you are disqualified for employment by alachua county schools for 2 years.

Luckily, there were inconsistincies with my second test, so the lady called her supervisor who called some other people who called more people still, who let me try one more time, and with all that FUCKING practice, I finally got it on the third go. what can I say? I obviously love drugs. anyway, that should be ok now...I hope.

I also interviewed at Grooveshark.com. they seemed to like me well enough. not emphatically like the elementary school ladies, but I dont think it went badly. the pay a total of ZERO dollars an hour though, so while Id like to take it I have to see how it fits into my schedule. one way or another Im getting rid of PT in the next week or so, but I could STILL end up with 3 jobs. ung. gotta chase that almighty dolla.

ummm thats about all for me for the time being. talk to you laters.

oh, PS: Ignition is not paying for anyone to go to Tokyo afterall, so I think I'll try making a visit to MD toward the end of august. we'll see how my money looks...
