Never again

Question: Why is it "never again" -
   -after the fact?
A Never which lasts for some time
 but not for always.
 and never when it counts.
and forever is it a melancholy one.

Restraint is the name of the game.
  Sometimes I play it well,
  but sometimes is never enough;
  only always is satisfactory.

Superlative statements of frequency prove to be
the only ones which represent any motive purity.
At least when it comes to Nevers.
Only the best will do,
the rest is just as bad as the worst.
And who can be capable of the best
when, for anything else, better than most
    is good enough
and a Jack of all trades
        is an ace of none?

Tempering others to accept my
  lack of superlative motivation
    is unforgivable.
In places like Never,
where nothing but the best is worthy
a jack like me has no right to meddle.

Un-forgive me.
Because I need to learn a lesson.
Don't put your faith where it doesn't belong:
    in me.
