Very interesting situations with impossible answers; I'm well on my way to becoming a professional jet setter. Some things are moving entirely too fast, some things are constantly moving in circles. As if I could be anymore obscure. So we'll work on this, one less "to do" list at a time. One more hour spent in an airport.
Oh that reminds me - Friday night and I'm camped out at Gate 4, literally exhausted and all "oh woe is me" when this kid comes and sits next to me. I noticed him immediately if for two reasons: 1. he sat right next to me and 2. he was unnervingly comfortable in the airport.
I guessed he was around thirteen (he was) and we sat next to each other on the short flight to Austin. He told me about school and getting made fun of and playing computer games and willingly going to military school and how his dad was a private pilot, so he knows what he's doing; he practically lives in airports. And the whole time I'm listening to him and I just wanted to tell him: "Hey kid, wait ten years. I swear it gets better. And those assholes who give you hell in school now will be deadbeats, long forgotten. You're the kind of person that makes the world a better place, even with all your strange hobbies and scabby knees. And if girls don't look twice at you in high school, it just means that you'll find someone a thousand times better once you come into your own."
To summarize it was an interesting perspective. I guess I don't ever think about myself ten years ago, or even one year ago. Maybe this is making progress after all.
Next weekend is Austin. Weekend after that is Philadelphia. Weekend after that is the Glow in the Dark tour ... in the eight row. After that?
Who knows.
