Hello My Name Is Sally Smote

I have proof that karma exists.

About a month ago I was in the grocery store when I witnessed a special girl slip and fall in some water right in front of me. At first it was really scary, her mother was with her, trying to help her out. I asked several times if I could call 911, then went to tell the manager that there was a spill that needed to be cleaned up right away.

I got back and the girl was still laying on the ground, moaning and moaning, and she really wasn't that badly hurt. I'd done all I could and at that point I was just a little annoyed that she was rolling around right in front of the strawberry balsamic salad dressing that I wanted to buy.

Later I laughed and laughed. And laughed. BIG mistake!

About a week later a bunch of us were out for Hunter's last night in America when I was smote for the first time. I was standing, yes just standing, on the dance floor when first Erin knocked my drink out of my hand and then my right knee randomly gave out. Top half of leg went left, bottom half went right, and my kneecap cracked away somewhere in the middle. I collapsed, right into my spilled drink.

That was emergency room visit #1. My knee is okay, I only dislocated it and had to wear a giant brace for about three or four days.

Two days after the brace came off I was smote again. Walking down some stairs, I made the first two but failed to see the third stair which sent me sailing up in the air... right onto my left foot which had bent under me in the worst possible position.

That was emergency room visit #2. This time I actually broke a bone in the top of my foot and sprained my ankle to boot. Thankfully I didn't need a cast, but two weeks of crutches and limping were certainly in order. Oh and a super bruised foot that looked insane. Oh, and enduring the unending laughter from my friends since I can't seem to walk right.

Lastly was Sunday. Amber and I got home from Michelle's wedding in Detroit when suddenly I just couldn't breathe. No big deal, I have asthma, this has happened before. I whip out my old nebulizer. No help. A little more nervous I still can't breathe and take my "emergency pill" which always turns me around in a jiffy. Only that didn't work either. I spent the whole night rocking on the couch and in the morning my roommates took me in for, you guessed it, emergency room visit #3. The worst asthmatic attack since I was twelve years old kept me in the hospital for three days. Oh, and I have pneumonia.

If anyone sees a large special girl in a tweety bird t-shirt with a baseball hat on, please let me know. I have to find her and do something nice to undo all this bad karma. (Thanks for the tip, Jason Lee)

They say bad things come in threes so hopefully I'm done.

Silver lining:

I have awesome friends. I have been tended to and taken care of better than I could have imagined, and I'm just overwhelmed. And grateful since I haven't been able to walk up the stairs very well by myself for almost a month.

I'm going to try and do some good deeds, just cause.

This is my chance to take it easy for a while. Just chill at home, get organized, healthy, go to bed early, etc. Also I had a whole week of work off. Sweet.

But beware! Don't laugh at others misfortune. Fate is ready to smote you too.
