Writing Just In Case I DIE Tomorrow.

Tonsil surgery. Sounds simple enough, but in my own brain it has become about as severe as a sawed-in-half-chest-bone triple bypass heart surgery. What can I say, I'm a big wuss. Thank goodness I have really great family here to save me from myself. I thought I was going to go by myself and wait for Amber to get off of work to take me home... who knows why it just seemed logical. Until last night when my Aunt Joanne, then grandma, then Aunt Lynn, then mother called in rapid succession. Their collective point was that it is completely unacceptable "and really just stupid" for me to think I could go to the hospital alone, or even stay by myself at home the next day while Amber is at work. In a whirlwind of admonishment and tough love I was told that Joanne will be taking me to the surgery, staying there with me until I'm done, then taking me home where my grandma will be staying with me until Thursday at which point Lynn will come pick us both up (and Stewart) and take us to Glenview for the weekend. I was just brimming with RELIEF! Sometimes I really hate this independent adult thing, esp when sickness or scary things are involved and I'm SO happy they stopped me. Yay!

Tamina is in town visiting from New Jersey. She even has a few job interviews here, so hopefully she'll get one and move to Chicago! It has been really fun having her in town since the whole Northwestern crew has been gathering and going out frequently. I forgot that I actually DO have a group of school friends! Sunday there were nine of us at brunch, then we hung out at Erin and Hunters, and then all the girls went to see Bridget Jones. Followed of course by dinner and drinking too much on a school night. It was fab.

Last night I was supposed to get groceries (just popsicles for me thanks) and clean the apt. so that I won't be hungry or annoyed whilst I sit there helpless the next couple of days... but thank goodness Erin and Tamina showed up with two bottles of champagne and 3 pints of Ben and Jerry's! We had a tonsil party and proceeded to drink too much and laugh until it hurt.

Also today is my last day of work (read: internet access) until the Monday after Thanksgiving. Which is pretty grand.

So life is good minus this whole throat removal thing. Next time you hear from me I'll be tonsil free.
