Hello from a stranger! I hope you don't mind the intrusion, but I read your letter and it occurred to me that you might not know about the small-but-insistent fandom that's already out there for The Americans. In particular, there are a few stories out there that might appeal to you given your interest in Philip and Elizabeth: MechBull's Allegiances and Mother deal with their relationship during the show, and Katia C's The Arrangement and my Five Points Down deal with both past and present issues in Philip and Elizabeth's lives.

I also don't know how you feel about dreamwidth, but there's a pretty active community for the show over there for both discussion and fanworks: http://theamericans.dreamwidth.org. We're currently doing a group rewatch of season two and discussing each episode as we go, and there are occasional things that have leaked out about season two that we post and squee about as well. If you want, you can participate even if you don't have a dreamwidth ID: you're allowed to comment anonymously, and it's also possible to comment using your LJ ID if you sign up for Open ID--we have a few members who do it that way.
