Biblical flooding cannot stop the birthday train. The day was uneventful aside from massive flooding every damn place, and many hugs to the exhausted soldiers of bucket brigades and leaking library saviors. Yuck.
I did a bit of a clothing binge at Anthropologie, which was much harder than I would have thought. The one time I actually allow myself to buy what I want, at full price no less, I turn into a Depression-era grandma. "They want how much for THAT? Good grief." I did end up with a skirt that is perhaps the most flattering piece of clothing I've put on in a long time, a 3/4 sleeve thermal (it's more exciting than it sounds), and a navy blue hoodie-jacket that's partially lined with baby bunny fur. By which I mean it's pure man-made goodness that just feels like baby bunny fur. Mmmmmm. I don't ever want to take it off. After that I met my coworker who went to the show with me, we raced to my brother and SIL's place, had dinner and exchanged b-day gifts, then it was off to the show.
And what a show. OOOOOh they were so good. Sam Beam was incredible (that voice needs no help, lemme tell ya), the band was awesome, the segue jams were great, the set was great, everything everything was great. They played a lot of new stuff from Shepherd's Dog, of course, but also a couple of my older favorites (Sodom, South Georgia; Cinder and Smoke). Oh I loved it. But man...I really like Shepherd's Dog, but I would kill to have seen him perform when Our Endless Numbered Days came out (hence my excitement by the classics he chose). But regardless, it was such a good show. Gorgeous.
Here's hoping Woodinville is still flooded and I can work at home tomorrow! Briefly!
