Progress Report

So, we're about a month into the school year, so I thought I'd do a nice bullet-point list of my accomplishments and not-so-accomplishments.

-I joined the school gym and I've been going twice a week for the past 3 weeks with my friend Emi. She's in most of my classes (the linguistics ones) and she's been semi-coaching me in the swimming pool and the fitness centre. We've got a mutual support thing going on, it's good.

-Speaking of school, it sucks. I'm not sure when, but somewhere along the line linguistics stopped making sense. The rules and structures we study now aren't intuitive like the ones of previous years. They're theoretical and obscure and I just can't wrap mytbrain around them. I just pray I can pull off good enough grades to graduate decently. I want to work hard at it, but I just can't find the motivation because, let's face it, I hate my classes. Except Drama in Education, that course is a delight.

-Socially, things are pretty cool. I have friends from classes over regularly to help each other and generally hang out. I still like my roommates, and in fact I had a rather nice bonding experience yesterday. See, Julie and I decided to go to Value Village because she needed clothes and I needed a Halloween costume (I got a hot little black dress and awesome accesories, so exciting). We were there for over 4 hours because she literally went through every single rack and she tried at least a hundred things on. But by the end we each had what we wanted, plus we were really getting along. Then we went home, had pizza and decided to go to this Bound for Broadway thing at a gay bar with two other roomates. It was quite the adventure, with Gurpreet forgetting to tell us that she's underage until we were on the bus (we constructed an elaborate plan to get her in which involved pretending she was a transgendered Indian international student, but we ended up just walking right in) and Sarah and I getting up onstage to help sing "Any Dream Will Do". Then we walked to Chinatown for REAL chinese food and ended up taking a cab home because it was four in the freakin' morning.

-Romantically, nothing's really happening, but I've opened up to Emi about my dating issues. It was nice to talk to someone who really listened and offered advice without judging. It just randomly came up because we were in a bagel shop and a cute guy behind the counter said hi to me and was all nice because he remembered me from a tutorial last year. Except I totally didn't remember him, for which I felt like a shit and an idiot. Just like me to not notice a boy noticing me, no wonder I'm perma-single.
