I guess that I can speak from a place none of you can..I'm out of high school, and it's a BIG change. I was independant to start with and it was(and is) still hard at times. If your parents are rich enough to pay for everything you have during college and you accept it, your spoiled, bratty, and immature(not to mention lucky). Getting help every once in a while isn't a bad thing if you need it. It is when you lean on others. This most certainly doesn't apply to everyone; however, if you aren't mature enough yet to go off alone cold turkey, then you need to grow up..NOW. No offense, but Jana has a VERY good point when she says that most of the people that are immature now will never grow up. Once again, I'm not pointing fingers; however, it's true. Think about people like Tee Baker. Do any of you actually think that he is ever going to grow up? Granted, he is funny, a nice guy, and I haven't seen him in a while, but I would bet a lot on the fact that he's still as childish as he was a year ago..two years ago..three years ago..four years ago..etc. It is possible that Jana was out of place to say this; however, I agree with her main point. Her main point is that most people who are still very immature in the 12th grade will stay immature for years after they graduate. Without pointing fingers, I agree completely.
You shall notice that I not once pointed fingers. This means that the category of "immature people" is not limited to anyone. Therefore, that includes Jana if she is or is not immature. I did NOT point fingers. I simply stated the facts of what I've learned.
