RP LOG: Watari and Troy

Oct 09, 2008 07:40

Troy invites Watari over to discuss some late-night business.

(This is back posted like crazy....about a month ago? I fail. ;;; )

Watari: *glad to be rid of his heavy kimono outfit, he slips onto Troy's boat - totally getting past his crew without a problem - and heads down towards the Captain's cabin and knocks on it*

Troy: Come in. *Despite the lateness of the hour he is expecting company and so has a lamp still lit, trying to pass the time catching up on his reading*

Watari: *opens the door and slides, in closing it. he steps towards the desk and puts the note on the desk* You requested my presence?

Troy: Yes, I did. *Nods and stands, shutting his book* I realize that, even though we are home to a few unwelcome visitors at the moment, this is a time of peace for Budehuc....however, that being said, I find it better to be informed of any problem before it arises. *He stands by the desk, looking at the slight ninja with a stoic expression* I need someone to keep their ears and eyes open for just such information. The arrangment would be similar to our previous one.

Watari: *cocks a brow* You'll have to refresh me on that point, Troy. I've since left the Kage.

Troy: *Frowns* The Kage? I am not familiar with them, I was speaking of the work you did previously for me.

Watari: I'm been nowhere near the coast since I left the Kage. I couldn't have worked for you unless you did it as an unnamed patron.

Troy: *Frowns even more, which for him is quite a feat* You do not remember scouting for me in previous years, speaking to me in this very room?

Watari: I've never set foot on your ship.

Troy: I assure you that you....*he trails off, a thought trickling into the back of his mind* When did you arrive here?

Watari: A few months ago.

Troy: And before that, what was the last thing you remember?

Watari: Trying to keep ahead of my clan while they hunt for my head.

Troy: *Raises an eyebrow but keeps silent on that point* So you do not remember meeting me previously, or ever being on this ship. Interesting.

Watari: Correct. Does this have a bearing on what you wanted to speak to me about it?

Troy: ....I suppose not. *Files this away under the strange things that the castle can do. He wasn't aware that people could come twice, and from different times in their lives. Fascinating.* If you are still in the business of information, I would like to discuss a business arrangement.

Watari: *raises a brow* I admit it's not my main form of income, but I am still capable.

Troy: Some of us prefer to live as what we are now, not as what we were...which is why I ask, and do not assume. There is no shame in refusing my offer of employment. *means this whole-heartedly. He does not want to drag anyone into a possible war situation without their full knowledge and consent.*

Watari: Gathering information is far different from what I used to do. And if it's information about those Zexens threatning this place, then I'll do it gladly.

Troy: *Smiles slightly* Not when I knew you. *Shakes his head* Regardless, I believe that you would be well suited to the task. I ask nothing more than information on the Council, their movements, who they speak to, about what, and what they may be here for, although I can take a wild guess. *he quotes a price for Watari's services* Is this reasonable?

Watari: *ignores the reference to 'when i know you' and listens* Fine, I can do that. And the price is acceptable. Do you plan for me to go into Vinay or remain here?

Troy: Remaining here is fine, however, if you feel that there is a need to go to Vinay, please feel free.

Watari: I understand. Due to the nature of the mission, you may pay me in installments. I'll report once a week or more depending on the importance of the information I find.

Troy: *Nods* That is fine. I would prefer to keep this arrangement discreet due to the nature of these inquires. The Council has already been sniffing around my ship, I would like to keep the reasons for their curiosity to a minimum.

Watari: Do you prefer a different meeting place than your ship perhaps?

Troy: *thinks for a moment* ....Not at this time. Your skills should be sufficient in hiding your presence from them, I do not think that the Council is actively watching the full comings and goings from my ship. Night visits should suffice.

Watari: If the council is as easy to fool as your crew was, I doubt I'll have problems.

Troy: *Frowns. Down time in port is no reason for sloppy guarding!* I shall have to speak to them.

Watari: *curious* If you do not mind me asking, what mission did I perform for you last time?

Troy: Something similar. Intel gathering for the most part.

Watari: Ah, I see. I feel somewhat at a disadvantage for not recalling such a thing.

Troy: I will admit, it is an interesting case....I would also not have been as casual about my invite here if I had known, please forgive that oversight.

Watari: It is not like you were aware of it. No need to be so utterly formal.

Troy: *small smile* I know no other way, ninja. Do you have any questions?

Watari: I do have on stipulation to this mission.

Troy: What is it?

Watari: If, at any point, I feel this mission is threatening Kinnison's safety, I reserve the right to cancel it.

Troy: Kinnison?

Watari: The hunter, the man with the white wolf.

Troy: *shakes his head* I have not met this person, but if that is important to you, then that is fine. Please express any concerns you have to me if they arise.

Watari: *nods* Are there any other concerns YOU might have as the client?

Troy: *shakes his head* I would not have asked you to work for me if there were any. *pauses* That being said, I know that you do not remember working for me in the past, but you were a man of your word then, honor-bound by our contract and trustworthy, and I have no reason to expect any differences now. *Fixes his dark eyes on the ninja momentarily* It would be a shame for all parties if it were otherwise.

Watari: I still adhere to that. I strive to fulfill all parts of my contract to the best of my abilities. I will not lie, however. Some parts of me are different, especially where Kinnison is concerned. I warn you now, I place him above our contract without question.

Watari: Your faith in me I can loose, but not him.

Troy: *nods* I would hope you would address any concerns you have with me. Family is important in Kooluk, and even though my country is dead, the ideal is not.

Watari: *nods* I do not think there will be a reason for me to cancel, but as I said, Kinnison before the contract. Though, if possible, I would make it up to you later if I failed to complete the contract.

Troy: I appreciate that. As I said, let me know if there are any problems.

Watari: *nods* I shall. And, if you do not mind taking advice from the employee, try coming out of here and socializing more often. You look to suspicious if you stay here all the time. If nothing else, come read a book at the cafe and have tea.

Troy: So I have heard lately. *Sighs and runs a hand through his hair* Thank you for the advice, I will think on it.

Watari: *bows* Always glad to be of service, Troy. Perhaps I shall see you at my bakery soon.

Troy: Perhaps you will. *nods in thanks*

Watari: If you'll excuse me then. Kinnison is expecting me at home. *bows and starts to head out*

Troy: *Nods again* I look forward to speaking to you soon.

Watari: *nods and slips out and off the ship, all without being noticed*
