[FIC] Alphabet Drabbles - Annoy, Anticipation, Bath, Beach, Bet

Nov 15, 2010 04:13

Jesus Christ on a pogo stick, these came out way longer than I intended for them to. I just wanted to write some Ryan/Esposito drabble-y things as... warm up? Then THIS comes out.

Enjoy? Five little R/E drabbles, with Castle/Beckett on the side.

Annoy

Esposito smothered a smug grin. Ryan was a betting man, but not a very good one. At least, not compared to him. There was no way Ryan's repetitive calls of "Am I annoying? Am I annoying?" was going to get to Esposito, and distract him from his work any time soon.

When Ryan shrugged off his jacket, Esposito still thought nothing of it. Even when he deliberately walked in front of Esposito's desk. Even when he arched back in a poor imitation of the results of last night, disguised as a stretch. Even when he started tugging at his cufflinks, his tie, the top buttons on his--

"You owe me twenty bucks," Ryan gasped when he finally managed to pull away from their heated kiss, and Esposito's only response was a grunt and a rough yank at his partner's belt.

Anticipation

Ryan looked best when his eyes were wide, the particular shade of Kevin Blue practically glittering in mirth. Those eyes were best coupled with a wide smile of anticipation, along with that slightly slack-jawed look he gets, as if he couldn't believe someone was going through the troubles of surprising him. It was for that look Esposito lived, the detective decided, as he handed the large cardboard box carefully to his lover, pressing his lips against Ryan's forehead in front of the entire precinct ("Aaaaawwww..."). Ryan didn't even spare the room a blush before looking down and eagerly opening the top.

"Jesus Christ," the detective gasped, slightly breathless. He looked up at Esposito, wrapped a hand around his tie, and dragged his partner down for a hard kiss. Esposito was glad there was no tongue involved, when he could think again from the dizzying feel a taste of Ryan always gave him, because he wasn't sure he could prevent himself from jumping the other detective in front of the entire room had Ryan gone for more. He stumbled back, and felt Castle's hand clap his shoulder in a congratulation, the writer gesturing at Ryan's expression. Yes, Esposito loved Ryan's face when he was hesitantly happy, because that's essentially who Ryan was -- someone slightly insecure but had no reason to be. Esposito loved that expression, but decided it was fine for Ryan to break character once in a while, if he could grin as ecstatically as he was doing right now.

"I can't believe you actually got me a puppy!"

Bath

Esposito stared, incredulous.

"...This is a tub of ice cream."

Ryan nodded with a troubled expression.

"Yes."

Esposito blinked, hard, then fixed his partner's forehead with a look, because Ryan was refusing to meet his eyes.

"This is a bathtub full of ice cream."

Ryan sighed a bit, as if tired of repeating himself.

"Yes, Javi, I can see that."

Esposito, slightly miffed, crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"So what the hell are you doing with a bathtub full of ice cream?"

Ryan cringed at his partner's tone, and hesitated before speaking.

"...I thought Castle would've liked it as a birthday present."

Esposito quirked an eyebrow.

"You mean, Castle, who's on a flight to Italy right now?"

Ryan made a pained face, and shook his head lightly at himself.

"Yes, Javi. That Castle. What other Castles are there that would want a bathtub full of ice cream for his birthday?"

Esposito almost laughed.

"So... What are you gonna do before the Captain and Beckett come back?"

Ryan's eyes were wide and desperate, but with a hint of mischief as he reached into his pocket, and dug up a spoon.

"Help me eat it?"

Esposito blinked once at the tiny spoon, then a second time at the bathtub. He grabbed the spoon with a sigh.

"Fine. But you're not gettin' any."

Beach

"A word of wisdom for you gentlemen," Castle announced grandly, smugly, as he walked away from Ryan and Esposito. The two detectives glared at his back and wiped the sand from their faces.

"Always bury the feet first."

Bet

The Official Log of All Bets Between Detectives Ryan and Esposito
by Richard Castle

1. Beckett's morning coffee -- heavy on sugar, light on cream; just cream.
Victor: Esposito -- just cream (I shall store that information away for later use.)

2. The stain on Captain Montgomery's tie -- ketchup; blood
Victor: Ryan -- ketchup (oh-so-boring, I would've paid for Esposito to have won.)

3. Lanie's breakfast -- bacon and scrambled eggs; croissant from Starbucks
Victor: Esposito -- croissant from Starbucks (Lanie lied a little--it was from Molliestone, not Starbucks.)

4. Next area of NY for vic to be found -- Brooklyn; Manhattan
Victor: Esposito -- Manhattan (Stupid bet on Ryan's part, I have to say.)

5. Next area of NY for perp to be found -- Queens; Manhattan
Victor: Ryan -- Queens (I totally tipped him off--I never knew he followed me on Twitter.)

6. Location of my missing pen -- Beckett's desk; Home
Victor: Ryan -- Beckett's desk (It was resting quite comfortably between two others of its kind, if not cheaper, and if Beckett's sheepish grin said anything, she stole my pen from right u No, I did not steal your pen, and stop writing in here when we've got a case!!

(She stole it from me, and I want something in return. Preferably the name of the strange biker-dude.)

7. When Beckett and I will get together -- Two months; Two years
Victor: Unknown as of yet (thought I certainly hope it's Ryan. Esposito must see the glass half-empty. But then again, why would he need to, when he's got Ryan filling his cup for him all the time?)

The Official Log of All Bets Between Detective Kate Beckett and Consultant Richard Castle
by Kate Beckett

1. When Ryan and Esposito will get together -- Twenty years, I hope.
Victor: Kate Beckett -- they were already together.
