Author's Notes: Am I trying to say that South Korean entertainers are insane? Yeah, I dunno. Maybe.

It’s popular in Japan, but he’s not sure how it will be received in Korea, isn’t sure anyone will turn on his stream. Maybe no one will care, maybe no one will want to see. He doesn’t think it will happen like that, doesn’t think his show tonight will flop. Not really.

Stages, that’s the key thought. He has to nurse his audience, lead them on, just a little. Get them interested, hooked, before blowing their mind. A show like none he’s done before, that’s what he’s planning, that’s what he’s marketing.

He has help, of course, has a friend he’s only met in person a handful of times, but Kibum trusts him, believes that he’ll be able to use his goofy charisma to reel in the audience. Of course, the show is as much for Jonghyun as it is for Kibum, for everyone else. It’s to be a show of intimacy, hidden within the safety of the internet, the world where everything can be faked, where anything can come true.

Setting up before the show, he’s nervous, he’s unsure of himself, even as Jonghyun is chirping at him from his computer monitor, telling him the setup is perfect, the lighting is perfect. He doesn’t believe him, he’s too anxious to.

Moments later, it seems, he’s greeting his viewers, a small number for now, but he knows it will rise, watches it do so when he finally presses the blade against the skin of his wrist, draws a crimson line through the milky white.

Never mind that Jonghyun starts messaging him, moments after he lifts the blade to the webcam, to show the blood is real. There’s a manic gleam in his eyes, and that number just keeps going up and up.

Dizzyness creeps in, steals his concentration, as he tries to make the second cut. Maybe it’s blood loss, maybe it’s shock, because he didn’t know there would be so much blood, didn’t expect it to stand out so much against his white keyboard.

Fight through it. Be a star. Give his fans the show they want.

He can’t focus on the chat box to the side of his video, can’t see the panic, doesn’t see Jonghyun’s message that he’s called the police. It wouldn’t matter if he did, he’s a star in this moment, spilling his blood to get the attention he desires.

He isn’t sure when he went insane. He doesn’t know anything now save for the scars on his arms, the sound of Jonghyung’s voice, the touch of his hand. He comes to visit, every day, says he’ll continue to do so until Kibum can leave, until he doesn’t have to be confined to a white room and white clothes.

“You look like an angel,” Jonghyun whispers, kisses him when the doctors aren’t watching.
