I stopped by Mandarake as I always must do. On the first floor I saw this really cool looking girl reading manga. I was glancing at her, and she kept glancing back so I was curious what she was thinking. I wanted to talk to her but there was this fat sweaty guy with glasses (their sort isn't uncommon at Mandarake) and he wouldn't leave. I wanted him to leave because I didn't know the manga she was reading so I was gonna take a more direct approach with something like "実は、な...あなたは本当にきれいだと思うんだけど..." and then wait for her to blush, and then say something like "俺と一緒にSPIDERMANを見に行ってくれない?" I stood there reading Trigun: Maximum and continuing to exchange glances with her while waiting for that guy to leave. Then I got frustrated with the whole thing in went up to the second floor, thinking that if she had any interest in me at all she'd come looking for me. That was the last time I saw her. Oh well.
I almost left the place without buying anything. I think it might be because most of the things I really want there wouldn't be affordable for mere mortals. Or at least I'd go hungry for a week after buying them. But since leaving Mandarake emptyhanded is probably illegal in some countries, I got the next 5 volumes of Hana yori Dango (which I intend to finish before I leave) and a really cool Furi Kuri poster. I thought of getting this rather nice Marmalade Boy cel, but I couldn't recognize when in the series it was from, and at 1,500 yen I didn't wanna get a cel I didn't fully recognize. On the other hand they had a cel from Asuka saying "Do you want to kiss me?" and that was of course a little out of my price range.
I left Mandarake and went to the movie theater expecting to go see Spiderman, but then they didn't have it and I was all "Bitchnuts!! WTF!?!" I guess James saw it at a different theater in Nagoya, but this was the only one I knew so I figured it was there. I walked around trying to find something to do better than going home. I secretly wanted to fatefully bump into that girl from Mandarake, but of course that didn't happen. I've watched too much anime. But at least unlike some people I've learned to recognize which thoughts are a direct result of watching too much anime. I didn't find anything to do so I came home. Now I'm gonna go to Book Off and see if they have any good new wares.
