This weekend was okay. I can't remember what I did on Friday. I think that was when I went to Marco's place? If so I already wrote about that, and my desire for a copy of Dynasty Warriors 3. Hmm, my mom told me to stop writing about beating monsters in video games, so I'll talk about doing things in video games OTHER THAN beating monsters. Yeah, this Saturday I took care of most of the really annoying stuff I had to do in FFX. First I got Anima and the Magus Sisters, no problem there. Then I did the butterfly catching, and that went MUCH quicker than last time, I think because I copied this map from the FFX Ultimania guidebook, and it really helped. Then I did the dreaded chocobo race, and that too went much faster than before. I listened to Initial D Super Euro-beat since that seemed to help last time too. I won it by the 5th track. I might've just gotten lucky with the balloon placement, since every balloon I grabbed was out of the bird path, thus allowing me to grab 14 balloons without hitting a single damn bird. I still haven't done lightning dodging yet, but that's because I haven't gotten around to fighting Demonoliths to get a No Encounters weapon.
Sunday I don't think I did much anything. I went for a walk. On the way back right outside my building I saw this girl riding her bike coming from the opposite direction. I thought it looked like Kou but I was all "nah that couldn't be her" but I thought of what I would say if it was anyways. Then she waved to me. Turns out it was her. I guess I'm just easier to recognize from a distance. We didn't know that each other lived in the same building, so we talked a bit and now I know where her apartment is. Then as I was going back to my apartment Kesa invited me in for tea as she tends to do and what's his name....dammit, I forget his name....he was there too. And we chatted and had tea and then I left. I did laundry. I washed every single article of clothing that I have, and since I don't have enough places to hang that many clothes I still have this pile of wet laundry sitting on my bathroom floor waiting to be hung up.
Today was okay. I got up early to finish my homework that I was too tired to finish last night. Went to school. Whatever. Class went relatively fast today, and it didn't involve any pointless conversation excerices, which is always good. Not that I don't like practicing conversation, it's just that often the ones they have are completely pointless. I was kinda irritated today by the girl sitting to my left because of the way she just kept mumbling everything. Although I guess I was kinda doing the same thing. The girl to my right, Suuren, is this Mongolian girl, and she's quite pretty, but she's married. The Mongolian language is nifty looky. I always just thought they spoke Chinese there. But their language uses the Cyrillic alphabet. Went to the hyaku-en sushi place for lunch with Marco, Glenn, and Katherine. I never went there before because despite being 100 yen per plate, I was always afraid I'd end up spending 5000 yen there. But I only at 5 plates. I coulda eaten more, but there wasn't enough time. I helped support Ken's cigarette habit by buying him two packs. He's broke and he hasn't gotten his check from his old company yet and he's been bitching about it since last week. He has like a crate of macaroni and cheese at home, so he's good for food at least. But I don't wanna see how he gets on a niccotine low.
After that I sat in the computer lab reading slashdot and something awful until 5. Then I went home. Tried to play some FFX but after 10 minutes of running around inside Sin I decided it was too hot and I went out for a walk. Kinda meandered for a while until ending up at the mall. First time I've been there since getting back. Being spring, all the schoolgirls were decked out in their über-short seifuku skirts. What am I saying? They were wearing them even in winter. It's a good thing, it really is, and I'm not even normally one to gawk at girls either. I went to the book store and poked around the manga section. I found Berserk. That's one manga that I really wanna get. I thought of getting a volume or two, but then I decided to go over to Book Off and see if they had it, and maybe also pick up the next two volumes of Hana yori Dango. I shouldn't have gone to Book Off 'cause I know every time I go there I end up spending twice as much as I originally intended. They didn't have any Berserk at all, and for some reason they only had volumes 17 and up of Hana yori Dango. They used to have all of it, but I guess they ran out. I'll have to check back later. They also had a new bunch of Dragonball which I intend to get before leaving Japan, but that's a major project (50+ volumes) so I don't think I'll start on it until I finish Hana yori Dango. Dragonball'll be good though because like Hana yori Dango I can actually read it while only having to open the dictionary at an average of once per page. But I did find all of Golden Boy in a 500 yen package. I'd been meaning to pick up Golden Boy for awhile, so I'm glad I found that deal on it, and I grabbed it. It's a little too hard for me to read most of it though because it doesn't have furigana for the kanji. I also found vols 10-13 of Maison Ikkoku, and I got them just because. I'll get the rest of it before leaving too. I know they have it at Mandarake, but I think they're 200 yen each there, and I got those 4 for 100 each. I already have all of Maison Ikkoku in English, but it IS my favorite manga so it's cool to have the original Japanese version. It doesn't have furigana either, so it's kinda hard to read. Most of the kanji aren't very hard, but I still don't know a lot of them. If anything I can always look at the pretty pictures. And I'm looking forward to seeing how the Golden Boy manga is different from the anime. Probably pretty different seeing as how it's 10 volumes, as opposed to the anime's mere 6 episodes. I also got this Dragonball artbook/episode guide. The 3rd in a series. Its original price was 1800 yen, but I got it for 700. Hardcover, full color glossy pages. I just couldn't resist. Then I came here and typed this. I think I'll go home now and eat an instant yakisoba and then look through Golden Boy. I also had a minor personal failure today, but I won't go into it.
