Friday was cool. I went to see March of the Penguins. One thing I had not expected, but perhaps should of, is that there were lots of annoying small children in the theater, and their even more annoying parents. Regardless it was great, as I expected, though the penguin love scene made me uncomfortable what with all the soccer moms and their kids around. Also, as much as I can walk emperor penguins forever, some of the most fantastic shots were of the antarctic landscapes. It's really an alien world down there--I should very much like to visit there one day. The night sky there seems especially spectacular--full of red moons, auroras, and billions and billions of visible stars. In the credits they also finally showed some of the humans involved in making this film. Apparently they tied cameras to balloons to get some of the overhead shots--this is something I had been wondering about while watching the movie.
Then I went to the supermarket to get some ends, and I ran into Arline Norkin, my multivariable calculus prof from last semester. It's always slightly uncomfortable to bump into professors who don't know really well outside of a school setting, but I talked to her for a few seconds. I geniunely liked and got a lot out of her class, so I made sure to tell her that. She said that I can ask her if I ever need help getting into a class or something. I did do well in her class afterall. Yay for brownie points!
Finally, that night I went back to the movie theater to see The Princess Bride, which they were showing for Friday Night Rewind. I surprised by the massive turnout in spite of it being a time of year that lots of people are on vacation. Much fun was had, and I ran into a few people I hadn't seen in a while. They also announced that next month they'll be showing Ghostbusters. This excites me.
I mention all this stuff from Friday because since then I've done virtually nothing. I haven't even left the house except to go for a couple walks. My sleep schedule has been all fscked up too, and I'm staying up > 24 hours today to try to reset it. I also meant to write all this down sooner but just never got around to it. I've been busy making shitloads of mods on
MusicBrainz. Slowly but surely the entries for Japanese albums are being made to not suck.
Edit: Speaking of March of the Penguins, /. just now has a
story saying that it's on its way to topping Bowling for Columbine as the #2 top selling documentary in US box offices (#1 being Fahrenheit 9/11 obviously).
