(no subject)
Lately I've been finding that my wireless connection in my apartment isn't really all that good. Throughout the downstairs it's fine, but upstairs, where my room is, I barely get a connection and it's rather unstable (often when I do something somewhat CPU intensive like play a game or use photoshop it drops, and sometimes it drops for no apparent reason at all.
At first I thought about trying to increase my wireless router's signal...but after thinking about it for the past day I decided I'm just gonna run cable from my router downstairs to my room. So I went to Radio Shack today. Since I was already downtown, I first decided to make a detour to the arcade and play a game of DDR. I did pretty shitty...I hadn't eat in 24 hours so the lack of energy was my excuse. I did Era, Do It All Night, and then failed miserable on Butterfuly Upswing...which isn't *that* hard -_- When I got off I noticed a little guy, probably about 13 waiting to get on. Since he was younger than me I knew he'd be better than me because every little guy I see play DDR is better than me. It's just a law of nature or something. It's a little embarassing, but when I think about it, if DDR had come out when I was that age (and thus, in better shape) I probably would have been pretty good at it too. So I asked him if I could be cheap and dance on the other pad, and he said ok. He started with Dynamite Rave and Saint Goes Marching both of which I kept up on alright (probably wouldn't have passed...but if I wasn't as tired it would've been alright). Then he did one I had never heard of before so I forget what it was called, but about half-way through that I got too tired to keep up, so I hopped off and left. Need to get in better shape.
I went to Radio Shack and got 100 ft. of CAT 5 cable for $25 which wasn't bad at all. I also had to buy the connectors which were $5 for a pack of 5. I made some super-ghetto crimpers out of some pliers, some scraps of metal I found, and some duct tape. But they worked...not well but...well enough. I tested the connection and it was fine. I still haven't put up the wire yet though. I'll either do it later tonight if I'm up for it, or tomorrow.
But right now I have to write a paper for Japanese -_- I slept until 2 today, so I'm not too tired and shouldn't have trouble getting it done (I'm just procrastinating right now). I'm writing it on my opinion of the US's nuclear weapon policy, so finding things to say shouldn't be too hard, as it has been in the past. I'm in the computer lab right now because my roommates are all being obnoxious and various ways so I can't work in my room. Cool thing though, I downloaded the newest drivers for my wireless networking card and they're much better than the old ones, and I finally managed to configure it to work on my school's wireless network. So even if I don't use the wireless card at home, I'll be able to get an internet connection in most of the school's buildings, including the cafeteria and the cafe (where I sometimes eat lunch if I'm really hungry) and even in some outdoor areas. So that's cool. I haven't talked to Claudia in a few days. I miss her already :|
