Just remembered these suckers they used to sell which were a giant jawbreaker with lots of different coloured layers, and a gumball in the middle, and you'd have to lick it for days to get to the center. And it'd build up a chalky white film on the outside if you left it alone for awhile. And you'd lick your tongue raw trying to make it through. MAN I CAN STILL TASTE IT.
And the stick was made out of paper so it'd inevitably get soggy and sometimes the sucker would fall off before you could finish, making the prize more difficult (and delicious) to obtain.

And they stopped making them D: BUT AT THE BOTTOM, someone says they're planning to bring em back as a 'retro candy'. FUCK YEAR. I want to have this sucker again, now ;;
My other fave was that soft slab of neapolitan taffy which was sold loosely wrapped in wax paper w/ some black writing on the front. Delicious. Haven't seen it for years too. Did find something that 'looks' the same, in some bulk stores or obscure corner shops, wax paper as well, but it's hard and crunchy and tastes like shit. It's always disappointing.
80s candy was the best.
