Because I'm a dork, I completely <3 the flower symbolism.

A wee bit of concrit, though I'm not sure I can offer it legitimately: "begrudged" gave me a momentary jog in that context, I've never seen it used that way.

Also "do" instead of "did" in Ed's thought? Just because his predicament is in the present --or am I missing some time context for the piece?

Anyway, quibbling aside, this is a really rich piece. Enjoyed much!
