hmmm, so whilst we are in the full swing of 2012 and I have the energy to do so, I figured I would do an update.

2011 was an extremly messy, eventful, stressing and yet heartwarming year. Work wise, I "quit" my job at the beggining of the year thinking I was about to start my own consultancy business, with the backing of a serious company. If something seems too good to be true, it usually is and here that was proven the case again when I discovered the job was a total sham. Damn

Then I went to work for Oak Tree Recruitment, which whilst beggining with lots of positivity quickly spiraled down into a huge depressing, stressful time. I was so sick at the beggining of the year and I mean mentally. It opened my eyes to the knowledge that deep down, most employers don't know what to do with disabled people and its easier to get rid of us, then offer the support we need. It hurt me a lot but also has made me determined to fight for the cause. Because I believe I have a lot to offer an employer with the right mind set.

Lucky for me that - work wise - I got a call from Rob Ungar at Independent Dispensary - where I had spent some awesome months back in 2010 - asking if I'd like to come back. Working there again has been such a privalege and filled me with confidence again. Things are different this time round, as I know more about how the company works and what we are looking to achieve. My ideas have been met with genuine enthusiasm and Ive been given the opportunity to spread my wings and have my own team and really drive new business. It's not permanent and I am ok with this. It's also part time, which is great for my mental health.

The big thing of 2011, was my trip around Eastern & Western Europe with Kate A. leaving aside the stress and break ups, just the stuff that I experienced, the palces I went to the people I met, the friends I made, will live long in me. I got to visit countries I would not normally have ever considered visiting. Moldova is still the best, with the Ukraine not far behind (if only for the roadside mini markets) Copenhagen was amazing and wow! going from being so nervous and shy on day one, to practically running the festival by the end was an amazing transformation. I really enjoyed being able to fix things, to have people believe in me, to be part of a community and so forth. Trully an unforgetable experience.

My relationship with Kate A did start off well but disentegrated towards the end. I think it made me see that - even if the heart wants to - a relationship with Kate would not be wise. We are too different and we handle pressure in different ways. In many ways she has a touch of autism to her interaction with others and that can be frustrating as hell. I do love her - as a friend - and miss our chats.

The single biggest life changing, amazing thing to happen to me in 2011, was to be accepted to study Law at Birkbeck University!! Seriously, the single thing that most fills me with overwhelming joy. I get to fufil a life long dream of studying law and going to university. Im so happy it's ridiculous. I love learning. Ive enjoyed the lectures and the reading and even the text books. I feel like I am gobling everything up.

Ive also been given tremendous amount of support from the college. I got a full disability assement done, that has lead to a full dylexia diagnosis. I do have Dyslexia, along with Dyspraxia and Scotopic Sensitivity. Its been tough to hear but opened so many doors to support structure and Mark Pimm, my student disability support worker, made a valid point in that I should take this support and use it. If it means the difference between a 2:2 or a 2:1 or higher then take it. It's nice to know that I am within the 10% highest of people with an acadmic potential to get to the top. Mwahahaha

Ive also got into Mooting and Mock Trials and have made friends. Uni has been the best thing ever (but you get that right?)

Other then this, the tail end of the year saw me find a new shrink and get back to getting myself mentally healthy. This is very good.

So 2012 is shaping up nicely. Uni, work, mental health support Im looking forward to all this and that London will be caught up in the Olympics (can't believe that it's finally here! back in 2005 it felt miles away!) As well as the Golden Jubilee - oh I can't believe I forgot to mention the Royal Wedding this year (bad Lisa) it was such an amazing day! - will fill this city and finally the arrival of my cousin Marcela for 6 months!! This year is gonna be a blast!

and finally seeing as I did it last year, I'll do it this

Fave 'Ship - Helen Magnus/Charlotte Benoit (Come on!) (2010 winner: Rizzoli & Isles)
