Slight guy problem to be precise (aren't they always the funnest kind?)
Possibly I should have asked for advice earlier before the situation got quite so exploded-in-a-very-confused-way, but if anyone has anything for me now, please to be telling me and you will be made of win!
We are (or at least were) fairly good friends, then a couple of months ago he told me he fancied me and that apparently I appeared to fancy him. Wuh? I told him that no I didn't fancy him and was sorry if anything I'd said/done had given him the wrong idea.
He is rather persistent though. I tried telling him, I tried dropping many, many hints, I tried telling him again, I tried ignoring the issue and hoping it went away, I tried telling him yet again...and eventually he seemed to get the message.
But wait, it gets better!
The other week after a party I got yet another message from him asking me out. Apparently I had spent the party flirting with him by playing footsie under the table. I wasn't even drinking, and yet...? No memory of any footsie whatsoever! Whatever. He insists I was.
I told him that anything that may or may not have happened was completely unintentional, and I thought he got the message. Then at a party the other day me and Florie drank a lot of wine and started talking about the whole thing, and may be the fact that we kept looking in his direction and giggling gave him the wrong idea or something, because this weekend he texted me asking me out yet again!
So, I told him no again, and he asked if he could speak to me before lectures today. And this morning he asked me to clarify again that any "footsie" really had been unnintentional, which I did, and I thought we had everything straightened out. Until I got out of my lecture and opened up my laptop to find an email form him saying that he still can't believe that this "foostie" could possibly be unintentional, but that since he knows now anyway that nothing is going to happen between us, he doesn't want to see me again. *HEADDESK*
I replied, told him that I really was telling the truth, that I was sorry for any confusion I had caused, and that I'd still like to be friends if that was OK with him. Now I'm just waiting to see if he replies, or if he says anything to Florie later (they are next door neighbours). *sigh*
ETA: He replied and the not wanting to see me thing isn't permanent. That's good.
*headdesk*
