Since the KMT fled to Taiwan because of the threat from the communist party, Taiwan has become a KMT domain. And so we had a period of "Let's top Aniki! Let's take back the mainland!"...though it eventually died away in the recent generation. More recently, in order to bond his little siblings closer to him, China had gifted them his precious pandas. (I forgot whether Taiwan got 1 or 2...)

Although the Taiwanese people were all ">.>" towards the gifting, they still went to the zoo to see it anyway... Pandas are cute, afterall. XD
