I have to say, all the stuff going on in the Middle East amazes and depresses the hell out of me. Is it just me, or does Israel get away with a lot more than its neighbours and other places, such as North Korea? I agree that they have a right to defend themselves, which is what Canadian newspapers and our beloved Prime Minister keep saying. But I'm pretty sure there's a difference between self-defence and bombing the hell out of Lebanon, which results in a bunch of dead Lebanese civilians. It seems to me that Israel is the favoured child in an extremely dysfunctional family. For the record, I do not support the terrorists, but I am always astounded that the powers that be cannot see the role they play in enabling those same terrorists.
Okay, end of rant.
In completely unrelated news, it has come to my attention that I have a lot of music. My big project this week has been copying all of my CDs to my computer - there are now 2458 songs in iTunes (some 9.89 gigs of music). This doesn't include all of the MP3s from my old computer. That's the next job. The beauty of it though, is the fact that I still have 120 gigs of free space left. I love my Mac.
And finally, the piece I've been in denial about. One of my dearest friends will be leaving us very soon for the wilds of China. I could not possibly be happier for him, but I must admit, this week the reality of him being gone has started to set in and I find myself suddenly weepy throughout the day. I had to change the route I usually take when I walk the dog because it goes right past his former apartment. Yes, sometimes it is patently obvious that I am a girl.
