Lord Almighty, I'm just getting used to losing the pointy ears and next thing you know I'm in the role of a god damned rabbit. I hope someone from the Infirmary hadn't been thrown into this damned mess- Peter? Martha?

Which reminds me, you owe me a visit Lieutenant Uhura.

[Private to Pavi]How are you holding up? I see you've left the sick bay. ( Read more... )

There is no need for the Pavi to be dragged anywhere, dottore. I am quite fine.

...

You have been a rabbit?

Well I'm going to stop by anyway, you need a look over.

Not a literal rabbit, just- forget it, it's done.

Save me the sarcasm Pavi. I'll be by this afternoon, so don't bitch about missed social engagements.

Sarcasm? Not at all, dottore. The Pavi shall be sure to keep his calendar clear for you.

[McCoy headed down to the third level, unconsciously in a better mood than he had been in quite some time. It was apparent in his tone and vaguely in his expression, not quite as gruff as he tended to be naturally. With his med pack at his side he knocked on Pavi's door, stepping back and regarding it.]

Pavi, open up. [He calls, tapping his finger against his side.]

Pavi came to the door in good time, still feeling immensely put out and basically sulking but hiding it well, and offered a wide grin to his Warden.

It almost faltered, though, when he noticed there was something...ever so slightly different about the way the man was carrying himself. For better or for worse, Pavi had grown fairly expert at reading body language - which had once been put to use in selecting his victims, but went to more mundane purposes now.

He stepped back, making a grand gesture into his room. "Dottore! You will come in, si?"

McCoy walked in, paying more attention to Pavi than the surroundings. "Well you don't look like you're about to keel over. Sit down." He gestured at the chair, pulling out his tricorder from the pack at his side.

"Damned fine time to get trapped in a book- Peter tells me you recovered well enough. How do you feel now?" He asked as he adjusted the machine.

"I am fine," he said, then relented because tiresomely enough, he knew McCoy would know he was lying. "A little sore, still. But the Pavi is very nearly recovered."

He cocked his head, peering at McCoy with interest. "And yourself? How are you feeling?"

"Bullshit." McCoy scoffed, raising the tricorder to do a quick run. "You're still a little dehydrated but you seem to be in working order." He quirked his brow. "Physically. Don't bother pretending that dying again didn't bother you."

He placed the tricorder away, pulling out his hypospray. "Why is it the way you ask that makes me uneasy?" He said dryly. "I'm fine, tired but isn't that a constant state given the madness around here."

Since when was McCoy fine? Pavi regarded this as highly suspicious, but elected to let it go. For now.

"Why would it bother anybody to die here?" He dropped down neatly onto his sofa, slinging his legs over an armrest and tucking both hands behind his head. "The Pavi returned almost immediately, no? It was barely a nap."

"I don't care if you woke up or not- you died. It's a very traumatic event for your body and your mind. All your major organs just don't stop and start up again like a damned car without some sort of impact on you."

He walked over, not giving a warning before he placed the hypospray at Pavi's neck, a sharp prick of a needle and a hiss the only indication it had injected. "For your blood pressure- and you never really told me about your first death for that matter."

"Ow-!" Pavi gave him a wounded glare and rubbed the side of his neck.

"There is not very much to say at all regarding my first death, dottore. My brother stabbed me many times. My father was not there to save me. I died. This is all." He shrugged.

"Not much to say? You were killed by your own brother Pavi. Why the hell did he do it anyway?" McCoy asked, putting the hypospray away and ignoring Pavi's glare. He was surprised his father would bother to save him, considering how twisted the older man seemed. He wasn't sure he wanted to understand how that man's mind worked.

"The Pavi's brother tried to kill him many times - he would strangle, drown, stab, whatever was easiest at the time, si? It was not unusual. We were siblings, of course we would fight." He smiled up at McCoy. "However on this one occasion, the Pavi was simply left to bleed. This is all."

McCoy frowned against the faulty logic. "There's a difference between the squabbling of siblings and murder." He said. "Besides, this is a bit different isn't it? Everyone comes on the Barge in full health, this left nearly as bad as when you were attacked. You felt every bit of it."
