I'm an idiot... a huge idiot. A huge, huge, huge, HUUUUUUGGGEEEE idiot.
But ANYWAY...
I watched Sweeney Todd in theaters w/ my cousin Julia today. It was... ummm... gory? Well, when I thought of a Tim Burton film I thought of Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, and The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy so it was a bit of surprise to see how gory the film was. The blood looked entirely fake. No matter how much of a Depp fan I am I cannot get passed the fake blood bit.
It was definitely something different.
OK... so far you're probably thinking, "Alright, so she thinks it was a bad film". But I would have to disagree because it was good, but... I don't know... I have mixed feelings on it. Would I buy it? I'm not even sure... It's kind of frustrating feeling this unsure about a film that I just saw (like, literally 4-5 hours ago)... as I am sure that it is frustrating reading this, what with me being so neutral about it.
There was one part, however, where the editing was HORRIBLE. It looked like Antony (no, not Depp... it was someone he met on a boat) went through a different dimension and picked up his bag (you'd understand if you watched the movie). Another thing that was horrible was Joanne's singing. Joanne is the name of Sweeney Todd (Johnny Depp)'s daughter. She had this annoyingly, high-pitched, make-you-want-to-sock-her-in-the-face singing voice. But I shouldn't really complain since I have a horrible singing voice myself... my voice is really monotonous.
OH, if you didn't know, it's a musical. I had done a little research on the film beforehand and was already expecting a musical. The singing didn't annoy me, as most musicals tend to do, if anything I liked it. All in all, I would give the movie a 3.5/5 ^__^ (that extra 0.5 is solely because Johnny Depp is in the movie).
And, a little trivia (although their actual names do escape me), there were 3 actors from Harry Potter in the film: The one who played Snape, the one who plays Peter Pettigrew, and the woman who plays Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena -something- Carter). Yes, names don't really stick to me that well... along with series of numbers, birth dates, years (basically anything to do with time), street names, general geography, and, of course, titles of books, movies, songs, etc etc...
So, what things DO stick to me? Um... website coding and key placement. Website coding is obvious, but you might be wondering what key placement is...
so I'll give you a quick example.
Take piano, for instance. Most people learn by reading notes and playing the piece while simultaneously reading. Others learn by ear, which is definitely impossible for me. I learn by reading notes and performing the piece. However, you may think it's similar to the first example I gave, but it's actually quite different. You see, I read the notes but I don't REMEMBER the notes. Instead I remember where my fingers are placed and the position my hands are in at that given point. So, if you ever ask me what note is being played when, I would probably have to go through the piece in order to tell you.
Yeah, I suck. No one should learn how to play piano like me. It's hard teaching yourself though, so I definitely DO NOT recommend learning by yourself. First, you should learn by an instructor (which I didn't do... just another reason of why I'm an idiot) and THEN you can learn the rest yourself, but the basics are very important, even if they are just the "basics". I get stuck on the simplest things like switching from treble staff to bass staff (and vice versa) and peddling.
I suck hahaha.
