Strange night

Wow, tonight was avery strange night; my boyfriend and I attend these gay reunions in El Paso called "El Paso Outings" its a very cool project created by Planned Parenthood, like a club, a bunch of local gay guys get together every now and then and watch a gay related movie with snacks or have dinner somewhere or visit interesting places all for free. All these guys are very friendly and cool people, we even met this other couple, Sal and Abel, they have just celebrated their 10th anyversary together! They are in their mid 30's and are about the sweetest and coolest and funniest coupled guys I've met so far, sooo cool, my boyfriend and I just felt this "click" when we first met them, hahaha, it's funny because it sounds like we are dating them or something, anyways, this night the group got together at this cute restaurant to have a "Dia de Reyes" (Three Kings Day) dinner. Dia de Reyes is more of a mexican tradition I guess.

Also known as The Epiphany, Three Kings Day (Día de los Reyes) is a Christian celebration that commemorates the Biblical story of the three kings who followed the star of Bethlehem to bring gifts to the
Christ child.

According to the Biblical story, the Three Kings named Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar, presented the Baby Jesus with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Traditionally in Mexico, Three Kings Day, celebrated on January the 6th was the gift-giving time, rather than Christmas day. Just as it is common for children to leave cookies for Santa in the U.S., in some regions of Mexico, it was customary for children to leave their shoes out on the night of January 5, often filling them with hay for the camels, in hopes that the Three Kings would be generous. Mexican children would awake on January 6 to find their shoes filled with toys and gifts.

Also traditional in Mexico is for families and friends to gather together and share the "Rosca de Reyes". The Rosca de Reyes is a crown-shaped sweet bread decorated with pieces of orange and lime. It is filled with nuts, figs, and cherries. Hot chocolate is traditionally served with the Rosca de Reyes. They also hide inside the Rosca a little figure of a baby Jesus and who ever finds it in their piece has to throw a party on Febuary, I forget what day.

It was cool, cuz I remember as a kid we got presents for Xmas and then for the Dia de Reyes. Anyways, I got out of the story, so we finished the dinner and stuff and we were saying our good byes and everything and I hugged and said bye to Abel cuz Sal couldn't make it to the dinner, and he left and was walking to the car while we, (another group of people) stayed behind chatting when all of a sudden we hear this big ass CRASH/BANG/TIRES SCREECHING SOUND!! As two cars collided, it totally took us by surprise they just banged into each other on an intersection and one of the cars took down a street sign and they both stopped right on top of the sidewalk from were not some seconds earlier I had seen my friend walking. Damn! I got sooo fucking scared cuz my friend Abel just walked through that same spot and I saw something flying and I thought it was him!! So we all went running to see what had happened and how we could help. And in one car there was this young guy all in shock and wondering what had happened I guess, and in the other this poor little 79 year old man, he was so scared :(

Everybody was telling them not to move, that help was on its way; my bf and I were looking for Abel when all of a sudden he appeared, he was already calling for help on his phone. The thing I saw flying was the front of one of the cars. Wheeew! Luckly, even though it was a big ass car accident and the cars got totaled, nobody was hurt, not even the little old man, thanks to the seat belts and air bags; he was just scared. Another friend of ours got the phone number for the old man's son and was calling him but nobody answer. It was so sad to see the poor little old man scared, I really hope he's doing ok.

Then when I was driving home, like half a mile from my house, there was another car accident, and this one seemed even nastier, there was this truck turned over on its side and another car with the front all messed up, so I was like WTF?!! And this stupid bitch right in front of me slowed down just to see the accident! Fuck! Some people! So I just hurried home before something more happened.

And that was all, I am just so thankful to the gods or god for my friend and the pople in the accident being ok.
