I live about thirty miles from the Mississippi River. We have eagles that nest near the river, because the fishing is good. There is a webcam on a nest in Decorah, Iowa - about three hours up the river from where I live.
There are three babies, ranging from one week to one day hatched. Watching mum and dad care for them is fascinating. The nest is located on private property near a fish hatchery, which is rather like an al-you-can-eat trout buffet. They've also dined on muskrat, crow, and a few unidentified bits.
If you want to watch something fascinating, I highly recommend it. Great for all of you who have kids, too.
