This is going to sound harsh but all this hoopla in the local government just reminds me of V for Vendetta. And not exactly the movie but more the book. More and more its just being proven how hopeless democracy can be and anarchy is essentially looking like the only option.
It amazes me how people can honestly believe that their local representatives actually care. Somewhere along the way we forgot that they serve us not the other way around. We forgot that they are not royalty. It used to be they got elected to help the people but years of cushy paychecks, 3 hour lunches, security details, and bodyguards have cut that cord between public servant and the voice of the people.
They no longer care about helping people, the growing number of senators and mayors going to jail for money laundering and racketeering proves that. But yet more and more I see more of the public being swept under the wave of media hype every election. Should it matter which party is responsible for the current economic crisis? I don’t know but I would think instead of having senators pointing fingers we should have them working on ways to solve this crisis.
It all just boggles the mind, are the puertorican people dumb or just ignorant. Frankly I would think the later. We are so used to having senators act like a ruling class that we forgot that we have the power. We cant unite as a public so hence we will never overcome the corruption that rules our country. Instead we let the melting pot grow and grow until it erupts in chaos. Proving once again that anarchy is the only option left to us...
