Today I

• woke up without a headache or rapid heartbeat for the first time in awhile
• killed the largest centipede I've ever seen, very unheroically
• broke into my house with a credit card
• reached a dissertation goal I had set over a year ago
• got my last paycheck from the longest contract I've ever worked, which is partially responsible for the failed goal

I will have to practice explaining to my committee all the things I learned while acting like a fuck-up.  I hope they appreciate the pause in paper chasing.

The winter ales are upon us, we're in that purgatory between the last leaves on the trees giving way and the snow beginning to fall, and there is panko-encrusted coconut chicken for dinner.

Yes, yes.

P.S. I keep looking over my shoulder to see the centipede emerge.  It's happened once already.  Damn you, Will Burroughs.
