My first holiday season as an old married lady. It's kinda awesome!
Thanksgiving was interesting! Rey's family joined up with mine in my mother's apartment. 11 people in a 950 square feet apartment. It was the most epic game of human tetris I've ever played. Also, Rey's extroverted family meeting with my introverted one was... different. I really don't know what they think of one another, but it was an interested experience. Not to mention the cultural differences that were obviously in play. But it was pretty good all around.
Christmas will be interesting as well. I've gotten my first real tree!! Rey & I made some ornaments, we're apparently getting more in the mail (thanks everyone!), and I'm making so much stuff for presents! I'm not sure what we're doing for meet ups, but we have my Christmas eve service at church, Rey's family goes to midnight mass, then my family usually meets up in the morning, with unknown stuff later on. I'm kind of curious to see what Rey & I do for Santa. You see, Santa stops at mom's house, but doesn't leave presents - just fills stockings. I've left the big guy cookies, carrots for Rudolph, and booze, but I don't know what I'll do this year. I guess I should start by telling Rey, huh? :)
I always find it interesting watching (and now experiencing) people bringing their lives together. I got to watch it with my brother and my friends as they married (or hand-fasted, live together, etc) and it's fascinating watching the give and take and compromises of each couple/friendship/relationship - or lack thereof. Just another example in the human experience.
I am really looking forward to all the parties. Like whoa all things party! This Saturday is a women's brunch at church, GEMS has a thing on the 15th, work holiday parties, family parties, and finishing it up with a Decemberween/ New Year's Eve shindig at our place.
Speaking about GEMS, I'm attempting to pull together the GEMS (Christian girl scouts that I'm in charge of)around the Bay Area for an activity. Heidi & I met up with the N. Ca. chapter and we both feel like the vast majority of the groups are kinda... sheltered. And white. Wow, are we white. So, we want to get the nearby groups together for some fun. Woo adventure!!
Hoping this will all pull together. So far, so good!
