Working through my room with a big overhaul. I admit it - I'm a bit lazy.My room has gotten to the point where I have a patch of floor to stand on while the remaining flat surfaces (exluding my bed) is covered with knick knacks, brick a brack, books, and clothes. I have SO much crap! If I attempted to tackle my room all at once, I would either A.) give up, B.) get lost in a cave in, or C.) logic my way out of doing it.
But! I have found a system that works! I have promised myself that I will either: clean for 5 minutes -or- a section of my room a day (equivilating to a bookshelf size space - floor to ceiling). It's been 5 days and I've cleaned a bookshelf space every single day. Having a choice helps me get started (thinking, 'oh, it'll just be 5 minutes.') and after I've started, I have a sizable chunk done, and a reasonable goal to reach so I can ususally just finish the space. It'll probably take me about 2 weeks to get my room totally organized, but it's a start! And it appears that for every section I clean out, I get a bag full of garbage. I mean, Ew. So I'm glad I'm getting it cleaned out.
I've managed to seperate it into 3 piles: garbage, give away, find a place for it. I've done really well so far (I think)! The hardest part so far was figuring out what to do with my medals and trophies. I'm proud of them! But they take up so much space and are kinda... well, they don't fit with the rest of the decor. I'm thinking of making them into oranments for whenever I get my own Christmas tree or something.
And I have to admit, it's a great time spender while I'm waiting for my arm to heal and to hear back from HPD. I've gotten to the next step of paperwork/background check. I've filled out and turned in all paperwork (seriously, 3" of paper to be signed, filled out, and requested). Now they have to go through a background check and they want EVERYTHING. They want to know everything about you - from things you got away with to what you DIDN'T get away with, to character witnesses, transcripts, degrees, certifications, hobbies, achievements... All of it! I'm surprised they haven't asked for blood! Wait, they will if I get past the polygraph test (really really. and that's the next step after background check and they still want me).
I see the doctor for my arm on May 9. I'm going to see if they will give me physical therapy. Doc said at last check up that it probably won't be necessary, but I'm thinking it is. I understand workers comp just want to get to back to "good enough," but not being able to hold my arm straight for 10 seconds is not "good enough" let alone practical for my job or karate. I was told I was qualified for 12 sessions - and I want them! I'm hoping (beyond hope) that what will happen is that I can get off of worker's comp and right into a new job. I would LOVE to have the dispatchers job! But I'm not counting chicken before they hatch. I've gotten burned before hoping too hard. It's easier for me to just keep on going and think postitvely.
